When you mention Beach Fleet. Are crew only operating Long Haul Flights from Gatwick ?

fly2012 26th May 2006 11:32

If based at Gatwick what would be the average take home pay per month ?

WeLieInTheShadows 26th May 2006 12:59

Hi all.

Firstly. Read the thread on EFLGW. This will answer questions such as pay...and everything else.

Nina

Not knowing what the first two questions are, we may struggle.

Also if you write someone elses answers down then you will also struggle when you do get to interview as will ask you more about the answers you have given.

Believe me they will know if you did not have the experiences you wrote about on the application. Body language accounts for up to 70-80% of communication and is largely involuntary.

My advice would be to take your time and really look inside yourself for your own experiences. Discuss them with your friends and family. Bounce ideas of of people and ask them to be honest with you.

That way when you are questioned on them you will have all the answers to hand.

Good luck.

By the way it looks unlikely there is going to be any perm recutiment into LHR until at least 2007.

So if you are applying, have read the thread on EFLGW and for one reason or another it doesn't sound like you, or you want to be at LHR and nowhere else for one reason or another, or the thought of being on a transfer list for years fills you with dispair....PLEASE THINK CAREFULLY ABOUT NOT COMING TO LGW.

I don't want to be down on anyone, but if LHR is what you want, wait for recruitment in LHR....it's as simple as that.

If you've got this far, then take time to read the other threads as well. You'll find lots of useful stuff that you may not know about BA that may help you in your interview.

It may take an hour of your life, but might affect the rest of it.

Good luck all.

flybywire: am I correct in thinking that this LOOONG form needs to also be signed by your GP? I need to change my GP, he is old and abrupt, he either does not listen to you or can't hear properly! :ugh:

Thanks for your input ;)

Don't worry, no need to be signed by your GP, it's a self-certification form! :ok:

hey guys!

Just got my start date this morning....7th August!! WOOOHOOOO!!! Am I right in assuming that courses from August will be dual trained??!!!

Can't wait to leave my current airline....gonna be soo fun at BA!!! Anyone else starting on this date?????

737-777 training

Congratulations to all of you guys, and welcome to all of you joing LGW!!!
You're going to have a great time!!!! :ok:

Just to say that we don't know when the 777 training will start and also which new entrant courses will be dual trained, we'll just have to wait and see. Nothing has been said yet, and managers still don't know too!

Enjoy your training course and one tip: listen carefully to what they say in the classroom and you won't have much to do at home!!!

WELL DONE to all of you :ok:

FBW:)

tuismile 6th Jun 2006 11:10

Thanks for that FBW!!!

Another question...if you're already crew at LGW, any chance your ID is ready a bit quicker???? Just that I got an email from admin yesterday saying my disclosure certificate had been sent to the I.D unit and once it's verified my I.D will be ready!! Just thought that was pretty quick!!!

Lulu100 7th Jun 2006 08:54

I had my interview yesterday for the LGW Fleet and I can't beleive it but they've already let me know over email this morning that I've got the job!woohoo!
I've been reading various threads on here and they confirmed all the rumours about the Onefleet -
Everyone in my interview were being assessed for the Gatwick Onefleet meaning we'll be flying a mixture of long and short haul, being trained on both 777s and 737s.

I'm really excited! :) Has anyone else just been accepted for LGW?

Any Tips for starting?!

Hello again!

Well as far as I know this time round they have organized themselves a bit better. When I joined I too had a BAA-LGW ID pass but it took them 5 weeks to get me my permanent ID (just in time for me to start flying). Also I had to have my uniform fitted during the training course.

It seems that now you get your uniform fitted before you start and also if you send your disclosure as quickly as you you can they'll be able you your ID much earlier than before.

One thing is for sure though:

Guys please get those disclosures on their was ASAP as if you don't have your permanent ID you can still use BAA buses, get in and out of hangar6 etc BUT you won't be able to access the computer system to bid for your flights!!! You need your permanent ID for that!!
I had to wait for so long (and had to chase them as it eneded up being a mistake on behalf of BA:= ) that I missed the deadline for my 2nd roster and had all the c*ap that people didn't want. Wasn't an easy way to start with a new airline I can assure you!!!

Good luck everybody and again.....open your ears during the training course!!! Trainers can give you some tips that are extremely useful once you're online, even if you have years of experience behind you!!!!

Looking forward to seeing you soon :ok:

[quote=cabincrewmember]hey there

Shame the moneys not the same at LGW onefleet as BA LHR same airline different pay not too fair is it... at the end of the day people wanna earn as much as they can so thats why they wanna transfer!!!!

Im sure if we at LGW got the same deal as LHR no-one would wanna transfer over would they and LGW has nicer routes so more would wanna transfer from LHR to LGW..

Also heard from the grapevine alot of EF LHR wanna come to LGW now its becoming the 'onefleet' so transfers may move faster BOTH WAYS!!!:) [I was wondering if you could possibly give me some advice. I am booked for the BA assessment at heathrow for the GatwickFleet and, was trying to find someone who had already done it. What was it like???]

Htanna 21st Jun 2006 19:18

Starting 3rd July too!

Hi Sam and naughty but nice! Yes, I have the same start date as you! Best of luck and see you there!:)

Commuting from abroad

Does anyone have any info about what our rosters are like, with a view to commuting from abroad. I know this maybe difficult as we will be operating long and short haul, which is new to LGW. Thanks

tuismile 23rd Jun 2006 00:17

Hi guys!

I'm starting training with BA on 7th august and I need somewhere to stay...possibly long term to be honest. I currently live in Essex which is a nightmare to commute to and from on a daily basis!!!

Me... I'm a 20 y/o male. I do smoke, but am willing to smoke outside or even quit if that's what it takes... am a Virgo so therefore VERY tidy...
Very laid back and I do like to have a laugh as well...LOVE to go out, but also love quiet nights in. willing to pay anything up to £400 (and that would probably be including bills)

If you have anything to offer or know someone that does, PLEASE PM me!

cheers

Rick

still recruiting?

Hi there
just been on the BA website to apply for the Gatwick fleet but its not there anymore?
When i checked last week the closing date was the 30th June.
Does anyone think it will be back later on this week or do you think they've recruited enough crew already?
