Simon.......do we know each other??? :ok:

If you are who I think you are, as I offered many times, why don't you come and spend some time here with me! You can use my house as a base and practice your english as much as you like!! You'll get home-made food as well :P

I have to say though that your written English is extremely good, many English people I know (even BA crews) wouldn't even dream to spell the way you do, and let's not think of their grammar!!!
CHIN UP my friend. Try again, I am sure they'll soon realise how good you are!!! :ok:

Hi Simon,
I attended Wed 19th at 10.30...There were a range of nationalities there.Spanish,French,Australian and the rest were English.I have been put on a wait list and not sure when I will be starting.
I hope you realise that not many applicants even reach the interview stage, so alone this is an acheivement.
As I said English is my first language, not sure what yours is but send me to an Interview with Iberian,Air France etc and they would laugh at me.So a credit to you.
Please persue your dream....Dont give up.
Go for Virgin, you may be exactly what they are looking for.
Good Luck....Let me know how you go.
Bidan

Desperate to know,
I attended the 10.30am session on Wed 18th May...I was the Aussie...Great group of applicants,I got lucky and have been advised I am on the wait list...
Would love to know if any of my buddies from the group made it through also.\'
Really excited!!!
Also anyone know how long you are on the wait list before a start date is offered...Applied for Eurofleet LHR??

FBW!!!!
HELLOOOO!
DA-DAAAA ... Yes....It's me!
how are you?
Thank you so much for your offer because to spend a few days before any interviews would so-sooo good to be more confident!
I hope to hear from you before your E-day at the end of May.

Are you packing your Louis' trunk, are you warming the engines of your Learjet up to fly to "one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world???"

KISSES

Simon

flybywire 23rd May 2005 09:15

Simon, my darling....
You know me quite well, I am a 777 girl, no learjets just yet, we like them big!! :E

You must come and stay here for a while. Maybe do one season in GB to master the language. Stay here, feel at home, we'll take it in turns for the big bed ;)

I have just received an email from my E-lover and he's coming to see me the day before my E-day....Fantastic!! I'll either be very strong and ready for the big day or completely worn out!!!!:}

Call me sweetie. And don't let a failure bring you down. I need you to be strong. I am sure you will do great next time.
And as for Virgin...it's the same as 2 years ago. But I thought you turned them down last time?

Hugs...

FBW:)

BA Interview Slot Availability

Hi

I've been invited for interview with BA for LHR Eurofleet, but when I logged on to the BA Jobs site it said that there were no available slots for the assessment day at the moment. Does anyone know when the next slots will be available?

Thanks.

AtlanticAngel 1st Jun 2005 09:22

Hi Bidan

Hope I can answer some of your questions about Eurofleet. :) We do a variety of routes on the 767 ranging from Athens, Moscow, Larnaca and Istanbul (our longest flights) to busy shorter routes such as Barcelona, Nice, Rome and Frankfurt. I tend to be on the airbus which I prefer as I was always on the 767's at my previous airline. :)

There is a mixture of day trips and night stops and you can bid for your preference using our roster bidding system. I put 3 day trips as my top bid and tend to get 2-3 trips a month with the rest of my roster being there and backs.

Our allowances are triggered at specific times so therefore depending on what time you are working certain allowances will be triggered eg. you need to start at 0730am or before to get breakfast. They will explain our allowances in more detail on your training course.

The longest sector we operate would probably be Larnaca (it is a nightsop so therefore the longest day would be a day trip such as Athens or Moscow). We are also doing Tel Aviv trips on the 767 in June and July under the longhaul agreement.

Hope this helps!
Good Luck with your training!

BA interview

Hey Guys

Does anybody know how long it usually takes to get an interview date (or not!) with BA. I got my automated ''Thanks for your application - we'll be in touch'' email a few days ago on Tuesday 30th May.

I cant bear checking my emails every three minutes!

wannabecrew 3rd Jun 2005 17:33

Just got an interview date for the 9th of June, anyone else going to be there?

clarebear40 8th Jun 2005 19:00

hi. can anyone tell me about the group interview aspect of the LHR EF interview please please please???????????!!!!!!!!!!!

triple x 8th Jun 2005 20:23

hya

Here some of the questions they will ask. Be prepared to answer them

Why do you want to work for BA?

What skills do you think Cabin Cabin Crew require?

Give examples of:

A cultural/ethnic scenario

Excellent customer service

A situation which made you unhappy

A situation where you worked under pressure

A situation where you had to deal with change

A situation where you had to deal with negative feedback/criticism

What qualities are important for effective team working

Be prepared to talk about how these situations made you feel.
They want very detail answers

Dont be nervous while you are on the 2-2-1. I found it quite relaxing. I was prepared for the questions they asked. When you on the interview, make sure that you make eye contact with both of them, keep smiling and focus yours answers on the team work. Make sure you find out about the ground services that BA have. They will ask about that. (What do you know about BA services or products ?)

Team exercise :
Participate, dont be bossy, make sure that everyone is taking part, dont make decisions without consulting everyone. Remember that it is not important to finish the task they gave you . They are looking of how you interact and work on a team.

Well, i hope this will help. It did helped me alot and I was sucessful.

Good luck and let me know how the interview went. when is your interview ?

clarebear40 9th Jun 2005 11:21

UK Accomodation

Hello

Just wondering if anyone would know of accomodation located close to Cranebank as I am commencing training with British Airways. Looking for approximately 6 weeks only, have checked out the Hotels in the area, however, too expensive.

Thanks

Cheers

Any B.A Crew

Can any of you guys share info re..World Wide Gatwick and what do you think the chances of B.A offering me this are although I applied for and told I will be Eurofleet LHR with a chance I may be required for WW Gatwick ??
Lots of info on this thread about Eurofleet Gatwick but very little about World Wide.
Would like to know what I am getting myself in for should the World Wide thing happen
Would B.A advise me before training or once it has commenced?
Any info PLEASE!!!

On the course

Hi

I think You will be told on day one of your training course, in 2 months time.

It has happened to several of my friends. Some even relocated to Heathrow all geared up for Eurofleet, only to be told at the last min (on day one) they were WorldWide Gatwick!

I just hope my training course on Monday will be Eurofleet and that they wont send us down to LGW!

All you can do is sit tight for a few months :)

triple x 16th Jun 2005 11:37

Thomas,
Are you starting On monday with BA EF ?

I am starting on the 27 June, also for LHR EF

thomas_ba 16th Jun 2005 20:49

Monday

Hiya

Yes I start this Monday (20th) with BA at Heathrow. My friend Emily who recently joined Monarch is also on your course - 27th!

T :)

redfred 17th Jun 2005 15:31

they could tell you on the course when its too late to change as they are asking for lhr volunteers to go down their but i think thr whole lgw situation is dodgy what with the proposed amalgamation with short haul down here too, if you can stay at lhr or go for lhr as you are safe.....you never know what could happen at lgw and you wanna stay mainline ba

737ng 18th Jun 2005 10:09

I'm also joining BA

Just passed interview.
waiting for a starting date.

See you..

Adiós LGW

Well after starting this thread sometime ago it is time to say, Arrivederci, Au revoir, Auf Wiedersehen, Sayonara and in local lingo, tattybogal to all those at LGW!

Had my call for the golden runways with less than 2yrs in the company!
:O

Prob wont have the chance to say goodbye to all the great folk i've met down at LGW as only two trips left so shall see you all when you come up!

Oh, and i intend to whip Heathrow into shape with room parties in a stu stylee, continue like i have since i started, so you have all been warned!!

Take care and all the best!

kempus

:ok:

ABird747 27th Jun 2005 20:24

I wouldn't get too worried about going to LGW WW. If you're on a mainline contract (as you would be if you joined now) They'd have to transfer you to LHR, "buy down" your contract or offer you severance. You couldn't be made to move onto an EOG contract.

BA Assessment/ interview advice

Hi.
Im sure I will be admonished for starting a new thread as there are already BA topics, but it was over 30 pages long, so I wanted a nice clean fresh one to ask specific questions.

I applied online for Short Haul Cabin Crew ( Heathrow ) as advertised currently on the BA website. ( July 2005)
that was 3 days ago. today I recieved an offer to attend assesment 22 or 23 Aug , I can chose.
Quite nice turnaround. does everyone with half a brain get offered to attend assesment and interview, or is it a good sign worth continuing ?
I have never applied to or worked for BA or any other airline before so Id appreciate some advice.

I have some questions about this ass. day, if I decide to go.

1) like many I have noidea where my qualifications are , I have Scottish Standard Grades and a few Highers. The SQA are willing to send me replacements but will take up to 6 weeks ( possible more as I live abroad)
Is there ANY way to attend an assesment day with possibilty of receiving a provisional pass or offer based on future reciept of the original SQA doc. If so, is there anything else they would accept as a temporary replacement.
I would hate to fly to Heathrow for one day to be turned away at the door. Is it better to let that free date pass , wait till docs arrive then hope there are other free dates come up. ( flights to the UK for that date are hugely expensive for me also , so it is an investment to decide to attend )

( ps trying to actually speak to somone, get a contact name, or a potential assesor at BA is a minefield)

2) If I do attend the assesment what should I expect.
this may sound petty but Ive heard these finer points are noticed.
Do they look out for anything in terms of apeparances, ( guys - no hair gel, highlights, shave off sideburns , cover up holes in ears etc etc )
Dress code.

3) Are group excercises still common, I remeber one many years ago at Prestwick for Ryaniair when they first started out there, and it was the most horrid experience of my life. Like being voted out of Big Brother except as a group and to your face.

4) Will they test your foreign language skills if you have declared them on your application

5) any general advice, suggestions ( no smart comments please ) . Does anyone know what positions they are trying to fill at the moment. how long training takes, where you live during that period. As I would be moving to the UK specifically for this these factors are quite prominent )

6) If youve lost you NI card and have no recent UK payslips, how do you prove your NI no.?

Lastly will anyone else be there on those dates that would like to accompany me on travel , accomodation and general mutual support.

Jay

Next training batch

Post Note,
the recruitment centre said today that if I were to be successful on 23rd Aug assesment, the next training batch is likely to be October or November! is that common ?

eserifog 27th Jul 2005 23:38

Hi guys,

Volar, I made it through BA selection on June 9th and I am still waiting for a training date. Hopefully I will be able to get on the next course that opens up. BA told me that it looks like it will towards late October.

It feels like a long wait specially becuase I am not working at the moment but a lot of people had to wait for months to get into training.

I guess all we can do is to wait patiently for that magic phonecall.

I hope you're interview will go well and keep us posted when you find out.

To give you some heads-up:

-BA will want to see your qualifications for Maths and English (GCSE or equivalent)

-They don't test your foreign language skills

-I didn't have my NI Card on the day of the interview but I had a paper from Department of Work and Pensions saying that I applied for one. That seemed satsifactory. They basically need a proof that you are legal to work in the UK.

-Group exercises are fun and 2-1 interview can get long and intense. Definitely go through the interview guidelines available on the ba website.

-Appearance is definitely important. Make sure you look impeccable. Your hair, face, outfit, shoes should all look professional. All BA staff that i saw at Cranebank looked impeccable.

Good luck and all the best.

Does anyone know what kind of job contracts BA offers for its cabin crew candidates?

Especially word "individual" from BA recruitment requirements and benefits:
"Your remuneration package will be determined by your individual contract of employment."

I would be grateful for any details about these contracts.

Rumour has it that there are no more LHR EF courses scheduled for this year, and that you'll probably be offered a LHR EF contract with a LGW WW secondment for 9 months - 2 years.

Could be worth calling the recruitment line and checking it out, but they may not know until the day you start your course.

Look at is this way - you'll get WW experience 'up-front', so when you're LHR EF, you'll already know if you want to apply to transfer to LHR WW!

Good luck, and I hope to join you soon!

gps117 5th Oct 2005 08:29

that is true, no more courses going to lhr ef this year, all to lgw ww on secondment

mk124 5th Oct 2005 12:43

Does anyone have any idea of how long the waiting list is for Gatwick? I've heard from some that there will be no new courses until Feb/march next year! are these just rumours or facts?

Think i'll go mad having to wait that long:(

LHR_777 19th Oct 2005 10:07

20th October Interviews....

Anyone interviewing at Cranbank tomorrow morning? I'm in the 0830 session...if you are too, drop me a line!
