Melbourne...WTF

So much for baggage matching

AN Asian woman is blaming Qantas after waking up in Melbourne instead of Hong Kong after a flight from Los Angeles. She apparently thought she was boarding a Cathay plane in LA, according to a story today in Melbourne’s Sun Herald. The newspaper said that as the captain turned on the ‘fasten seatbelt’ sign and announced that the temperature in Melbourne was 8 degrees, the woman, who’d slept throughout the flight,
jumped from her seat, screaming: “Melbourne?
I’m supposed to be in Hong Kong. “How could you let me on a flight with the wrong boarding pass”. A Qantas staffer is quoted as saying that an electronic boarding pass reader in LA wasn’t working and ground staff the airline uses there had not detected that the
woman did not have the right pass....

Regards
Lozza

What will Qantas dish up for us next week...

Always amazes me that people don't take any responsibility for their own actions....

Sure its a monumental up but hey..... how bout checking the boarding display.... or perhaps this might have been a give away....

"Good evening ladies and gentlemen, this Captain Smith up here on the flight deck. On behalf of the crew I'd like to welcome you aboard this Qantas flight Los Angeles to Melbourne. We're just waiting for our push back clearance and once we're under way I'll get back to you with more details regarding flight times."

Apparently it was exactly at that point that the alarm bell was raised by the errant Hong Kong bound pax. But compared to the Herald Sun story, it's nowhere near as good a story. Hmmm, wonder why they call newspaper 'reporting' stories?

Probably cause like most stories the truth only gets in the way! Particularly aviation stories.

Hell, when journo's start calling B747 slide rafts chutes instead of slide rafts, you've got to wonder. But hey, that's another story!
