The New Airbus A380
I was reading how could they have showers and gyms in them? Can you imagine the scene? Sudden turbulance. Having to grab pax out of the shower with only a towel wrapped round their waist! And having to secure the weights in the gym? This couldn't happen right? I mean what sort of idiot would put gyms and showers on planes? What's next. Swimming pools? duty free shops?
anyway I checked out the website: http://www.airbus.com/product/a380_comfort.asp
um no way would I work in a crèche onboard!

The BIG A380!
Just had a look at the Airbus site and it all sounds impressive but I dont think airlines will put gyms etc on the aircraft when they can get more bums on seats and make loadsa cash! Duty free shops would be great!
A baby sitting club - they very thought makes my blood run cold - you could always threaten the little "darlings" that if they mis-behave you will throw them out of the plane!!!! Ha ha ha ha! I am evil!
I would love to work on this giant! Just think - "Thats doors 26 Left & right in automatic & cross-checked!"!!!!!!

Remember when the 747 was launched?(yeah, I know, showing my age again!) - the piano bars on the upper deck were soon ripped out in favour of seats.
That said, I'm given to understand that VS are planning some dedicated sleeping areas with double beds. That's sounds rather fab 'cos me and Mrs Bob aren't too keen on the cold metal and bruises that goes with the territory if you want to get jiggy at FL390 right now!

Everyone I know in the industry believes that the airlines are just going to put more bums on seats. Methinks this is just Airbus trying to generate a bit of public good feeling towards the aircraft before they all find out they will be packed in like cattle.

I found some aviation magazines from the 60's and they all showed artists impressions of the new widebodied jets with sleeper cabins, bars and even a dance floor.
We all know that given the opportunity the 380 will get jammed with lots and lots of tiny, cramped economy class seats.
Economics will always come before pax comfort - unless the pax pay well over the odds for it.
