QANTAS recruitment activity

Hello all,
can anyone provide any info regarding what's happening wrt QANTAS recruitment. After the big surge in the recruiting process at the end of last year, did Q actually take those they sent yes letters to? What about people who made the hold file (is that what you call it?). Have redundancies/enforced leave slowed everything down? Is the Perth base open, or have they put it on hold? I am asking for a friend who got a no letter in Dec but is shortly free to apply again.
A lot of questions I know, I would like to get a feel for what is happening in CC recruiting at the moment. Thanks in advance for any replies...

QF recruitment

Unfortunately there probably will not be any recruiting for a while.

New crew have joined in the past few months and the Perth short haul base is now open.

We are over crewed though in both the long haul and short haul divisions and QF are juggling the excess by asking us to take leave without pay and other initiatives such as moving annual leave forward etc.

In June all crew with accumulated leave of 30 days or more will be forced to take 7 days off.

Fingers x'ed the SARS issue will calm down and people start flying again.

Red Rat Recruitment

A colleague of mine has been training as a back up hostie with QF subsidery Eastern, and thats expected to last a week. He has been told that even though he is shortlisted, it can be either up to a year, or not at all, before he is considered for permenant employment through QF or its subsideries.

Maybe they should consider culling the cabin crews with attitude, or even those old queens and grandpa's that are crewing internationally at the moment. I work at Brisbane International and have seen maybe 4 out of a high number of male cabin crew that are aged below 45-50. The average is 50-55. Past the used by date im afraid!!

QF Dec 2002 shortlist....

Well guys,

It has been just over 3 months since we received our YES emails from QF.....putting us also just over the half way point in our 6 month waitlist period (which hopefully will be extended - really can't see them calling us in the next 3 months!)

What about the ppl who were put on the waitlist in October?? last year....were you guys extended??

We can all only be patient and keep everything crossed!!

Any QF insiders (you know who you are!) able to help with any info please??

Thanks in advance.
