Pax Alleges Rape by Steward on Air Mauritius
From Sky News:
HOLIDAYMAKER 'RAPED ON PLANE'
An air steward has been arrested over claims he raped an air passenger.
The 36-year-old was allegedly attacked on a flight as she returned from holiday in Mauritius.
The steward works for Air Mauritius, police said.
A spokesman for London's Metropolitan Police said: "A man was arrested in connection with the allegation. He has been released to return to Heathrow police station pending further enquiries. He's a member of the crew."
Police sources at Heathrow said the woman was returning from holiday with her husband and children.

Can't believe it (hard to)
Hard to believe, but must wait to hear what they will come out with.
Knowing A/Cs in a wide range of bodies and selections by now, I really really wonder:
1) How without being noticed or making noise
2) Where
3) If the poor woman was desperately screeming and shouting for help, where was everyone else? or was it a 3 pax flight?
I am not taking the part of my fellow crewmember, but that story is so so difficult to believe! (unless she wanted to be raped!, but then it will be another story)

I too find it very difficult to believe, I know I was not there but surely as pointed out you would hear here screeming, if she was in the galley which on MK A340 is mainly at the back, passengers would hear her and you would see curtains moving.
My guess is that she has had "one two many" to drink during the 12 hrs flight and invented the whole thing up.
Its such a shame to ruin someones career becuase that woman has got nothing better to do.

Got to say Conchi:
QUOTE](unless she wanted to be raped!, but then it will be another story)[/QUOTE]
Whilst I am sure I understand what you mean............you really are leaving yourself WIDE open for a bit of a bashing !!!!!!
Rape is serious and it doesn't have to include screaming and shouting etc.. Lets just see if this is another case of over zealous reporting, wait till the facts come out.

If it happened I feel very sorry for the lady but it'll change the image of stewards a bit. Not much chance of it happening on a British airline though.
On a more serious note, interesting reaction on this forum.
If it had been a male passenger accused of raping a female F/A there'd shouts for his balls to be chopped off and worse. Conchi's comment "unless she wanted to be raped!" is a disgrace. "I am not taking the part of my fellow crewmember". No doesn't sound like it - much.
Women get raped in all sorts of places you 'wouldn't believe'.
Remember all that support for that French Virgin FA who wrote his own bomb threat being innocent and then he ends up admitting it.
Why don't people just wait to see what comes out in the investigation instead of rushing to disbelieve her? But of course, I almost forgot he's CC so he can't possibly be guilty.

Frankly, I could never imagine a steward raping a woman. If he had raped the husband,.......now that would be easier to believe.
Very hard to laugh at your comments! they are cheap and meaningless
Please be aware of Prejudicial Remarks, they are worth a warning level 3, which includes 8 warning points in the package

Comments of ZRH on all male crew being gay is stupid!
Regarding the woman raped,....was she drunk and wanted some action ,as we have come across alot on flights?
Was she caught by the poor husband or the kids, while at it?
Then, did she find and "excuse"?????

I can feel my blood pressure rising and rising in reponse to this thread. Why not resist assumptions that one party or other must be wrong, and leave it to the police to sort out?
Rape is a horrific, terrible crime, and one in which the victim is victimised repeatedly. Once when the crime occurs, next when the ignorant and stupid assume that the victim is "making it up", "wants to be raped", was "asking for it" etc, etc, and finally when the whole thing is trawled over in minute and humiliating detail in court. Is it any wonder so few victims report it, and so few rapists are convicted? By making the comments that have been so insensitively made here, you are directly contributing to this mentality.
You may not wish to believe that your colleagues could participate in such an act. You may not have the imagination to know how it could occur so close to others - good, but it still could happen. Don't let your wishes prejudice the outcome. Not all rapists conform to the tabloid stereotypes.
Yes, some people make up rape allegations, but most do not. Most, for fear and humiliation say nothing. Let's wait to see what the outcome of due process is.

There are some shameful and disgraceful comments on here which reveal the terrible stereotypes that victims of rape have to face. Rape is a hideous offence that should not be the subject of jocularity. Any claim of this kind has to be taken very seriously, and investigated fairly and objectively. The 2 great injustices of our time are an innocent person found guilty and a guilty person found innocent. I sincerely hope that the truth comes out in a manner which protects the dignity of the innocent party - whoever that turns out to be.

Psr777, it's nice you made the effort to understand what I meant (basically that they both wanted to). Not all of us were born speaking english, and it is for many of us a second or a third language. Thanks anyway for advice, I appreciate it.
I live in a country were violence and criminality are present in every single street, at any time of the day and the night.
When I go to work I consider the aircraft as my little "happy island", so I do for my collegues when I don't know them, there's always a little trust as we all share the same passion for aviation.
I must say, this story for me is soooo hard to believe

Relax! Relax!!
You dont have to boil your blood!
Members on the forum are simply commenting on the topic, and not going to take law into their hands,to kick police from the investigation.this is a forum and all have the right to express their views/ideas as they look at an issue.

The A340 has got a lower deck crew rest area which is very well insulated. IF this is true it is my GUESS that this is the most obvious place for an event of this nature to occur without it being noticed.

Why will a pax follow a crew member to the lower deck crew rest ?
Anyway, comments and views are obviously welcome. That's why it is an open forum.
The only thing I invite all to do is to play the ball and not the player.

The point has been made earlier, but is worth repeating.
There is absolutely no information about this incident beyond that contained in the original post. Any comments about guilt, innocence, motivation, opportunity or any other aspect of this incident are pure speculation, in the absence of fact - and are therefore unwise. Such speculation diminishes the person posting, rather than shedding light on any aspect of this incident.
Some of the comments expressed on this thread are regrettable, and make me wonder whether they would have been expressed if the authors were not anonymous.
