Red face Qantas Recruitment from December 2002

Dear Pruners,

I am curious to find out if anyone is still waiting to hear from the medical-security stage from interviews before Christmas in Perth?

I know of at least ten people who have heard nothing but I am aware that the pool from a year ago have now been placed for ground school in eary Feb.
Only a few have heard from the December intake which is why I cannot work out the logic or maybe there is none!!!

Are there any folk like myself wondering if this means a no as I have heard nothing so far.

Please can you share your thoughts and anyone know if there will be several schools and whether we are being held back.

Noone will tell us anything so I just wanted to know if anyone else had been here before or heard anything but hopefully that we are not out for the count!!!

Hope to hear soon,
ChellyBee

Been where you are at right now, know how you feel, it sucks BIG TIME. But hey, you made it through the process which is better than most.

Only a few of you from the DEC '02 recruitment round were called at random for the FEB ground school for PER SH, starting operations in April '03. QF have plans to expand, I beleive so there may be more of you receiving calls in time.

With things in the Gulf heating up and creting uncertainty I think management are taking the softly, softly approach. Let's just sit on the fence and see how this pans out!

My advice. Don't wait by the phone for months on end as I did. Get on with your life, forget it ever happened and then one day out of the blue, you get a pleasant surprise when the caller announces they are from QF ringing to offer you a job.

Yeah, yeah, I know, MUCH easier said than done. Good luck to you!

Stay positive & move on...

Great advice ACB!

I too know how you feel chellybee,I have been on a short-list since September last year(not that long compared to others I hear who have just been called after a 12-18mth wait!)

Waiting & hoping is tough, but distraction and trying to move on without expecting a call every day is the key...

Well done so far..you've made it through a tough process, you will eventually be rewarded with a great job.
Take care&Good-luck

Chellybee,

Don't worry too much. They only took 16 from everyone they interviewed for g/s starting 19 Feb. They ended up taking a bunch of MAM casuals and the rest came from the short listers. I personally know 8 short listers that got "the call". Only people that have a start date have been called. There is always the short list which i believe has been depleted considerably and they will now need to "restock".
So as ACB says, don't wait by the phone, get on with life and when you least expect it you'll find out some news!

Chellybee,

I'm still waiting to hear about a PER start. Just re-read the email QF sent regarding Stage 4 ....

"Once the above information has been completed we will be in contact within approximately 4-6 weeks with further advice on your application."

.. I'm figuring that it is now the 6th week since QF has received all of my information. So hopefully I should hear something soon (it would be nice to tell my ever-so-patient employer what is going on). Even if it is "you are on the waiting list", something would be appreciated.

Hope you hear something soon.

Wink

Chellybee,

According to my calculations you should hear something some time in February.

Best of luck,

Melbourne Recruitment

Here's a curious point.....

The Melbourne recruitment process seems to have different timelines than Perth and Sydney....

Whereas notice was given within 48 hrs in Sydney, it was 10 days down here, and from the Stage 4 Security & Medical its a 8 week wait....

Obviously there's some sort of plan that QF is working from..... I just wish I knew I was included in them! lol

Dear Ozlander & Chellybee

BTW Ozlander, love the tag, very clever, wish I'd thought of it first! The 6 - 8 week advice from QF R&S, don't you believe it! Was told the same thing last April and 6 turned into 12 and my perspective on life became very warped. Did my time in 'the pit' which is why I counsel Chellybee not go down the same sad and sorry road. Tis a dark hole down there.

Chellybee, one thing I have learnt since September 2001 is this. When you truly and genuinely prove to the universe that you are prepared to let something go, turn your back and walk away, the universe will willingly give it to you. If you hang on too tight however, it will deny that which you so desperately desire.

Just something that has been proven to me over and over again in life. Call it universal law, Murphy's Law, call it what you like, just think about it!

Cheers
