Saw it on a BA flight the other day. Only one of the crew was wearing it.
Looks pretty good compared to the old one, which looks a bit "homely".

(Edited for "food"?)

The new uniform is under going trials starting 20 Jan.

This new uniform was costed and budgeted before all the cut backs and Sept 2001. Its been on hold since then.

As you well know the airline industry is to a certain amount "image" and although the old uniform is practical and smart it is becoming dated.

I hope this new one will be as practical, all I`m wondering is what hero will I be?

Superman?
Batman?
Spiderman?

I have seen the uniforms on a couple of crew who were trialling it and it looks great. Really classy and classic with a touch of glamour. How nice to get away from that busy print the ladies wear at present. The white blouse seems to flatter the wearers far more. There's even a cheeky little side slit at the back of the skirt and it seems to be a little shorter than the present style although not above the knee so still classy and kind to the older ladies.

I've seen it and yes it does look nice.Yes a little like the CSD QF
Uniform.

Male Pursers and Main crew to have waistcoats and we CSD's to have different ties and inflight jackets(I still won'nt wear mine!! .

The bad news is I'm going to have to get down to a 30/32in waist and ladies if you're not size 10-12 or less get down to the gym! .

NJR.

NJR, last warning. Do not post the link to your commercial website in your posts. You well know PPRuNe site policy on this.

I must admit I am struggling to remember the last time I saw a BA stewardess who was even close to a size 10! But I guess it is the more "senior" ones who get on the long-haul business/first runs.

Ooooh Christep ,

How very unkind and perhaps slightly unfair. Take me for instance. Gorgeous , glamorous , intelligent , size 12 .

Yes there are some slightly chubby ladies out there but then at BA we are not employed for how we look. As a 21st Century woman , I approve of this policy , as I'm sure do the wives and girlfriends of the many businessmen who choose to fly with us.

Just for the record I see many beautiful girls working for BA , it's just that there are also slightly less attractive ones because we have a non discriminatory recruitment policy. Many of the colleagues that I fly with are ex barristers , doctors , policemen , teachers etc which represents a wealth of knowledge and useful experience up there where it may be needed. In a hostage or emergency situation I would rather be with people like this than a bunch of young dollies . We work for an airline that allows flying to be a career because the pay and conditions are good enough. Therefore , some of our crew reach middle age and suffer the chubbiness which sometimes goes with that.

Consider that next time you sneer at some of our less glamorous crew members and remember that middle age happens to us all.

Dear Christep,

You obviously don't fly BA's First or Club often enough.

As for your guess: WRONG.

Really, what would Anne Robinson say ?

Christep,

aeroflirt could have added that pax are not only male.
Also I am sure that a nice percentage of male pax would put skills, efficiency and class (let's say professionalism?) first.

You obviously forget about knowledge and profesionalism.
Not to repit the words of areoflirt and the fab flyblue I would like to say that in this business where safety obviously came first, if you are dreaming about having Ms. Shiffer and Ms. Campbell you are miles away from reality ... they won't do it for the amout of money we get and they won't wake up in the middle of the night to go to work ... it's not very fascionable! but for us ... it's not only a job, it's a real passion!
Chill out or get your own private jet to take you around

Conchi......great to see someone from Avianca on the forum. Do you wear the plain red uniform or the blue pin stripe one?? The "Ruana Roja" is a very classy addition to your uniform & after 10 years with the same uniform we at BA now need to display a distinctive & modern image (something that we're not now doing in the current uniform). Having seen the Julien Mc Donald creation in the flesh I think we're on to a winner & that it should be introduced ASAP.....the sketches really don't make it look as good as it is.

The new uniform is a huge improvement, and considerably better than the published sketches. Thankfully, only Rocket crew are getting the hat!

Also, despite BA crew appearing in a variety of shapes and sizes, they are some of the most professional crew I have had the privilege of working with.

Please don't all read more into what I wrote than what is really there.

I have commented in earlier threads on the professionalism of the BA crews and the fact that in the event of an emergency I would much rather be on a BA aircraft than anywhere else. This is a different question from whether many of the BA cabin crew are a size 10. nojacketsrequired seemed to imply that either the uniforms weren't going to be available in bigger sizes or, I guess, that he felt they might look better on smaller woman than larger women. Maybe I misunderstood his comment; if so, I apologise.

What is in a uniform size? Today (boo hoo) I am going to pick up my new size 16 replacement uniform because I have become too fat for my old uniform. What is surprising is that while collecting it I will almost certainly be wearing my size 12 jeans and top. I am flight crew, and was of average size in my course on joining BA. The uniform sizes worn by my female coursemates varied from 12 to 18. I should stress that while 2 of the group are rugby players, none of them are fat. A few of them genuinely are size 12.

We are all resigned to the fact that the uniforms appear to have been given random size designators and that whatever size you are out of work, you will go up 1-2 sizes the instant you put on your uniform.

Out of interest when an airline states that weight should be in proportion to height how do they judge this?

I have an interview with an airline in Feb and although I am a size 10/12 in clothes I actually weight over 10 stone (big bones so my mum tells me ).

I'm extremely fit, as I excercise all the time but will they take this into consideration or just look at the number on the scales?

Thanks !

CC Uniforms

Sorry guys and gals, but isn't my usual forum (Nordic and rotorheads)

The moderator of the Nordic Forum "flapsforty " said :-
Hey guys, there's a thread up in the CC forum about uniforms. Now I alsways look jealously at my colleagues from SAS. What the female FA's wear looks so much more practical, comfortable, wearable and easy to care for than any other major airline's uniform I know. I would like to show it to the others on the CC forum, but can't google up a link to a picture
Now it seems flaps is quite busy and has'nt got around to setting the link up yet so i thought i would take the initiative.

SAS CC Uniforms Is the thread.

I have read through your thread and think the uniform looks quite funky.

In the SAS link there are a number of foto's, but there are more available on the net .

LS

(All comments back to flaps and not me..Thanks)

Sorry folks but I have to go against the trend and give the thumbs down on the new threads. I have seen the front page of BA News and it looks just a bit too plain and simple. At least with the old uniform it was unique in many respects but this one is far too similar to CC uniforms in other airlines! The hat takes the biscuit though.... it would be far more suitable if we wound the clock back to the days of VC-10s and Tridents!!! I hope the uniform is more pleasing on the eye in reality!!!
