Allowances.....how do you get paid?

Hi every one,

I'm wondering how your airlines pay you your allowances and if you agree with their methods?

I know some pay direct at the hotel upon check in where others prefer to pay you via your bank account. If so, do they pay you immediately or do you have to wait for them? Are your allowances subject to tax?
While I'm on this, are you happy with the amount provided? Is it enough? Too much? (By too much I mean is it more than enough to cover your stay, not your lifestyle!!) and if not enough do have destinations where you are forking out your own money to survive?

Japan certainly has to be a winner for most crew, but I'd be interested to hear about allowances for OS crew's staying in Australia or the US. I have heard both can be pretty lowsy.

Thanks all.
