Curious

Sounds like an interesting job.

Does a chef for Gulf only cook for first class or the entire aircraft?

And what about the safety issue, as a chef would you have to know how to evacuate the aircraft ect ?

The chefs only cook for first class, but they are trained as a flight attendant and are part of the normal crew compliment.

The chefs seem to be getting on quite well, or so it seems...
they only cook (prepare) food for first class pax to and from LHR at the moment.
Yes they are trained in safety proceedures etc. they have to be.
With regard to their pay you would have to ask them, its top secret and none of us lot know....... seems to be a GOOD deal though.
Give it a go. its worth applying.
Good luck.

The inflight chefs working for Gulf Air are all ex collegues of mine from Ansett International. We introduced the chefs to first and business class when AN International first began operations and they were a huge hit with our customers. After the collapse the catering manager went to Gulf and all the chefs were offered positions. I think about 16 accepted. I cant tell you about the salary, I've heard different stories but cant confirm any of them but i do know they get all the usual perks with Gulf, accom, transport etc.
I haven't heard of any of them coming home yet so things must be good.
They go through the regular FA training, I think it was 6 weeks, but if you are interested in getting work there as a chef I know you have to be qualified as one.
The contact name is Mike Kent. The medical is difficult and males may find it harder to get through. Good luck.

I only had the pleasure of flying Ansett business/first once, but it was great to be asked how I would like my steak cooked and then to get it exactly that way. Even the best first classes in the air don't do this, and I was sorry when they went bust.

The chef's uniform was a bit OTT though!
