BA Gatwick Crew
Hi All,
I have just been offered a position of cabin crew at BA Gatwick fleet, I had my assessment day + interview few days ago and I received the offer today. If all goes well my start date is 5th of March
I am a nurse, I have been a nurse for past 16 years, It would be a big change in my career, I would like to ask few questions please
1, how much approximately I would take home every month ? (I am aware of basic salary of £13k + £3.07 elapsed flying hour) and if I try to calculate I come up with something £1250 , which does not make sense, if I fly 80 hours per months, 3.07x80=240 + £1050 (if 13k fr 12 months, each month is around £1k) = 1250
is that true? would I take home £1250 a month?
2. when fly long haul , stay over night, would they pay us daily allowance to meet our meal expenses?
3. would me and my parents get discounted ticket from all airlines or just British airways
Please somebody can help me?

Staff travel kicks in usually after 6 or 12 months service, and should be you and your folks for travel on BA, and all the airlines that BA has an interline agreement with.
Your folks should be able to travel on BA, and on some other airlines without you.
As for allowances and flight pay Etc - I am not up to speed on the new BA contracts sorry - No doubt you will get an answer here soon.

Hi Taylondon.I think you have misunderstood when the £3.07 is paid. It is not for each flying hour but for each duty hour and would make a big difference to your calculations. This is paid for each hour on duty starting about 1 hr before takeoff and paid until about 1 hour after the aircraft has parked at Gatwick for a short haul trip. Same principle for long haul, paid continuously when you are away from base and used to pay for meals down route.For example a 4 sector day return may have 10 hrs on duty earning £30 but a 4 day Mauritius could be around 65 hrs duty earning around £200. Not all of this is liable to tax. Maybe you should work on £800/month allowances but what you take home will depend on how much you eat/ drink in the Sun!
