Hi Taylondon.I think you have misunderstood when the £3.07 is paid. It is not for each flying hour but for each duty hour and would make a big difference to your calculations. This is paid for each hour on duty starting about 1 hr before takeoff and paid until about 1 hour after the aircraft has parked at Gatwick for a short haul trip. Same principle for long haul, paid continuously when you are away from base and used to pay for meals down route.For example a 4 sector day return may have 10 hrs on duty earning £30 but a 4 day Mauritius could be around 65 hrs duty earning around £200. Not all of this is liable to tax. Maybe you should work on £800/month allowances but what you take home will depend on how much you eat/ drink in the Sun!
