Irish Mirror reports (a red top so caveat emptor) that it was a fumes issue in the galley:

Grrr

not sayin anything other than my experience, and one other I read about:

back in the day (the 90's) I was fying ams-dtw with senior FA's. They called up and started asking if anything was wrong with the plane???? perfect day. not a cloud or a ripple in the air over the north atlantic...no we said, the plane is fine.

soon they called back....a couple of them (FA's) felt an unnatural sway or movement in the a/c...its fine we told em.

soon they called back....a couple of them didn't feel well...OK we said..keep us posted..

soon they called back...several more of them didn't feel well...we asked if any of the passengers were sick????? no they said...OK we said, keep us posted....

soon they didn't feel any better....keep us posted we said.

eventually we made it to dtw.

sometime afterwards I read about a UAL something who made an emergency landing in Iceland or Greenland cause his stews felt bad.

they too were released with no medical diagnosis.

question...has US air found any mysterious galley leaks that were magically confined to the galley that 10 FA's gathered in enuff to get sick?

question???? how is it that 9 or 11 FA's get sick due to fumes/odors in a single galley? were they having a meeting in there and all succumbed as a result? but no passengers got sick cause there wasnt room for them in the galley with ALL the FA's in there????

I wasn't on these US Air flights and don't know nuthin xcept that I'm glad I didn't divert. the atlantic FA's are generally older and sometimes they overdue it sightseeing. "Im not feeling well, how bout you" "Me neither".

otoh, I wouldn't want to be wrong in a situation like that. You cant really get into trouble diverting now, can you. otoh, if you don't and there is a locally confined leak of some magical sort that manages to make around 10 FA's sick without affecting any passengers...well, that WOULD be bad.

Aer Lingus cc stricken.

"A US-bound Aer Lingus flight was forced to return to Dublin last night after a number of cabin crew members fell ill over the Atlantic.

Flight EI-139, with 280 passengers on board, left Dublin at 4.23pm destined for Boston, but after just over two hours into the six-hour journey, the crew decided to turn around and return to Dublin.

The crew reported that “a number of cabin crew members” had fallen ill. No passenger was reported to have become ill.

The crew did not declare an emergency and confirmed to controllers that they had no special requirements on arrival in Dublin stating the the airline had made all necessary arrangements."
