Chilled Drinks

Hi just wondering if it's just my airline or most airlines where by "cold" drinks are served at room/trolley temperature with the option of having ice. Or do some airlines have chilled trolleys for the likes of white wines? Bit of a strange question I know but I'm intrigued. Does your airline serve chilled wine - predominately in economy. I'm particularly interested to know about individual wine bottles (187ml). Thanks.

Wouldn't touch the Y class wine it burns through your oesophagus. I'd say with the majority of airlines I've been on the white wine and beer down the back is invariably on the warm side. Earlier on before the dry ice evaporates it's better but the further into the flight the warmer. Most refrigeration space is taken up by meal trollies. As crew used to put as many on ice as i could for those all night drinkers aboard.

Our beverage trolleys/units are stored inside refrigerated galleys (except for red wine and some of the alcohol that doesn't require it).

there are chilled carts, the tray that slides out of the top is to hold wet or dry ice in bags. Doesn't mean they are effective of course....

When flying at the back I usually beg the staff to pilfer a cold one from the front where they are always cold.

Inevetably you will get someone that insists that they are the same temperature even after explaining how frequently one has to take return flights.

We put dry ice in the drawers with the cans. We also use the Ice Drawers, although they don't work nearly as good. This works great, you just have to keep an eye on everything so it doesn't freeze.

Our mob, drink trollies (soft drinks, juices, beer and white wine) are kept refrigerated by catering after they´ve been stocked, and their on-board positions are also refrigerated. Same procedure as in flyblue´s lot for the red wine and liquor.

Nowt wrong with the wines down the back BTW; eminently drinkable.

A poster on another thread mentioned that CC have to provide free water to any pax who demands it, to help them swallow medication.

Is this true?

Of course it is true that crew will give out water to anyone that asks for it - but in Economy it will be potable not bottled.

On night flights our crew will actually walk through the cabins with jugs of water offering to those customers asleep or 'trapped' in the middle that can't get out!

We also hand out free water during the entire flight, day or night. At my outfit, the water is bottled though.
