Whilst I do think it is a shame the sad fact is that BMI Baby came as a negative asset to the BMI mainline deal and should have been sorted out by Lufthansa.

Everyone likes to gripe at BA but IAG only wanted BMI mainline, not regional, not Baby.

The bases are incompatible, the aircraft (despite what you claim on your petition) are incompatible and the routes are incompatible. The aircraft are too old to be retrofitted and the only BA 737 network is in the process of being re-equipped over the next year or two. Personally I don't think the 737 will be on the table unless it is in the next generation shape.

Why do you think the price of the deal was slashed when LH forced IAG (not BA, IAG bought BMI) to take two 'hangers on' as well as the lucrative LHR slots.

So, sadly, the money that was discounted was always going to be used to fund the redundancy package. Sad fact of life. Good luck with the petition though.
