Report call sign. Thank you. Of course another group of potential joiners could be the 600 BMI crew. This is a potential time bomb for Bassa. In fact if I were a long term weather forecaster, I'd say we are heading for 'A Perfect Storm' in the next few months. I can also see the BS retiring now in July as even he must recognise the potential disaster awaiting his branch. We shall see.
I don't want to bring up details of the court case here for general discussion, but the ID's of the missing 13 are IMHO going to cause no end of problems for the Bassa hierarchy.
Finally thank you so much Mr.Mod for allowing this discussion. We all know who the trolls are.. Let's hope it remains civilised.

I too do not want to discuss impending court cases specifically on here, however I will finish by saying you are so correct, I think BASSA are going to get one hell of a shock in the next few weeks, just as big a shock as the individuals that are involved in this horrendous mess they have made for themselves
If you refuse to act civilised on a forum you should expect to have the wrath of the law thrown at you and man is that going to cost each and every one of them, I for sure would not want my subs going to fund such a losing battle!
Back to the thread, it is fantastic to hear that so many are joining the GMB. I can see thousands of members signing up in the next few weeks
On a there and back yesterday it was great seeing so many crew using their mobiles to contact the GMB and add their name to the ever growing list.
I hear the first meeting is weeks away, and wow what a meeting that will be!!!

Me too Bettygirl! Decided we had nothing to lose and a lot to gain. As we already know, resigning from a union is as simple as stopping the money and dropping them a note so it is definately worth a go! See you at the first meeting. Wondering if we can tempt Hiflyer into joining and becoming the Eurofleet rep?
Lovely to fly with you a couple of weeks ago as well!

For the record two of the reps named on the GMB site are ex CC89.
BV was worldwide and TP was Euro fleet.
As this time it is not a 'breakaway' it will be interesting to see how BASSA/Unite play it.
We live in interesting times!

The BA Union Thread
Received today my ballot paper from GMB (wow that was quick) about the newly negotiated Redeployment Agreement and it looks okay to my mind. I know this was something the unions did not want to give up but the changes don't seem to be unreasonable given the current climate. Indeed it says that BALPA have already signed up to it (not that I can ever remember BA making pilots redundant).
I was wondering if anyone had a different slant on it or any reason to object to it?

First and foremost this concerns LGW. I believe the company wishes to outsource loading, baggage, aircraft handling, and possible other departments. Under the old agreement it wasn't possible to carry out what the management wanted to do, hence the new negotiated agreement.

First i've heard of it...?!
Hi All,
This all seems great news, I'm Eurofleet Crew not blinded by the selfishness of BASSA but have, and still do pay a high price of it....
Not being in a Union for 3 years now it's exciting to hear it's not just me out there alone!
Still need a little convincing on the. I haven't heard any information, talks or news of a GMB Union at all, which worries me the most. I understand the difficult in this is a result of the BASSA bullies but that’s more reason why people should be shouting about it....
In fact this thread is my only source of info I’ve received at all and could do with a little more convincing before I commit to joining.
Will be keeping my eyes and ears out at work for more information for sure and hoping for find some presence off a new Union, which represent crew in 2012 not 1912.

GMB Recognition for MF
The GMB CC Website now contains a link to the "BA & GMB Recognition & Partnership Agreement for Mixed Fleet".

Does unite have anything similar?

Latest hot GMB rumour off the press is the GMB have been awarded collective representation for Mixed Fleet!
I can only assume that Mixed Fleet have achieved 51% membership in GMB for this to be implemented, ahead of Mixed Fleets exciting new Company communication platform ‘Our Voice, ’which launches mid June.
Numbers are not my forte but in a Fleet roughly 1200 strong and with 400 Cabin Crew in Unite, Mixed Fleet has to be proportionately the most Unionised work force in the UK!
After Gorgeous George Galloway’s performance perhaps I should not be so surprised that a predominantly female work force is so politicised. As the Guardian noted ‘It was the women that won it’.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2012/apr/04/how-women-won-it-for-galloway?CMP=twt_gu
‘Our Voice’ signals a significant development in Mixed Fleets identity and engagement with our Company. Unite members interested in becoming Union Reps are being encouraged to nominate themselves as candidates to be elected as ‘Our Voice’ Champions.
The planned agenda and topics are ideal for budding Reps to build positive relationships with the Mixed Fleet Leadership Team, an important building block in the foundations of a collaborative and productive future.
You may wonder why Mixed Fleet would even need to have collective Union representation. I would point to the ongoing ballot on the proposed changes to the 1948 Redeployment Agreement, current BASSA input into the smooth integration of BMI Cabin Crew into Legacy Fleet and BALPA’s involvement in the board level decision to add BMI to our family as evidence Unions can support both employees and the business in times of transition.
Whilst Legacy ladies like myself and Betty Girl can offer support and guidance, it is only a matter of time before Mixed Fleet Champions take control of their own destiny, for they are the future.

I stand to be corrected but I think this breaks TUC rules so the GMB could be in big trouble, not to mention that at least one of the people they have recruited as a "rep" seems to have absolutely no idea of the principles of trade unionism. I expect this will implode and some people will be very embarrassed. I will watch with interest.
"All affiliates of the TUC accept as a binding commitment to their continued affiliation to the TUC that they will not knowingly and actively seek to take into membership existing or “recent” members of another union by making recruitment approaches, either directly or indirectly, without the agreement of that organisation."
TUC rule book

I doubt the TUC can be arsed with the GMB seeking disillusioned members of BASSA. BASSA are not the flavour of the month at Unite and Brendan Barber barely has the time of day for that particularly militant brach and it's nut job leadership.
