Why is it called "the blue room"?
I did a quick search and then decided it would be easier to ask you people.
Why are airliner potties called "blue rooms"? Apparently the term goes back to DC-3 days, if not earlier. Were the classically painted blue.
I'm also asking this in Aviation History & Nostalgia.

Prior to the introduction of vacuum toilets they used blue liquid to flush the toilet.
Hence the Blu Lagoon, Blu Loo Blu Room etc....
Looked great when the toilet access valve on the side of the aircraft did not seal correctly and the aircraft had a bright Blue stain down the rear fuselage after landing!
