pax smoking
The last two days I've had pax that were caught smoking in the lav, one enroute to puj the other Hog..both were met upon arrival by authorities and removed from the plane..just amazes me that people will do this and actually believe that they will get away with it, I'm interested to know if they actually get fined or charged. Anyone know?

Haven't a clue where PUJ or HOG is, but in general I suppose it very much depends where in the world you are, and in certain places who you are.
Do recall reading a story about a passenger on a holiday flight out of somewhere in Scandinavia bound for a warm and sunny place, where a passenger was caught having a smoke in the lav. Allegedly, the commander would have none of it and landed the ship at nearest available, off-loading the offender who was then arrested by local constabulary. Don't know what the authorities did to him, but the airline did mail him an invoice with a very large number at the end, equal to the cost of diversion, fuel, landing charges etc. Oh, and he also had to make his own way back from a somewhat back-water French airport.
