Life after Cabin Crew

Hey guys,

Is there life after flying? I am thinking of going back to normal life but wonder if I'll adjust to it...

Can anyone share some experiences?

Blix - You make it sound like you have been locked up for the last 25 years!

I flew for close on 12 years before changing careers and dropping into health and safety! It was difficult because as i'm sure you are aware there is no other job like flying?! I still miss the industry and sometimes wish i could return!

You need to look at all the skills you have achieved / gained during your time in the skies and try and adapt them to a 'normal' job!

Hope this helps!

Morning Blix

I started as cabin crew in 93 stopped in 2006. The lifestyle change was the hardest for me. 9-5 and a commute is a bitch.......!

Flying again now (after 3 years) with a corporate company. I do not miss 9-5 however I really missed flying when I was in the office.

I thought long and hard about leaving ANA at the time so just be really sure you have a secure plan. Good jobs are hard to find at the minute.

Good luck with your choice hope it works out well.!

Mrs was Part Time CC with BA. Left due trauma in life/BA and got "normal" job.
Now takes home 2 thirds less pay than she got at BA (PART TIME)
Hope some of the posters on the BA thread read this!!

Blix... good words from Nesboy.

I started as CC (6 years on line) at LHR moved into management and then after 10 years left the industry. I've worked in various sectors since I left aviation in 2002 and I'm lucky enough to have a job where I mostly work from home, see the family grow, generally enjoy life and have an income I would never have achieved in aviation.

You generally know when its time to move on and it sounds like you've made that decision but once you go put it behind you. Don't think about going back at the first hurdle you come to. Stay in there and work your way through it. The first few years were hard for me but it paid off in the end.

I've relocated to the North now (trust me it's better). When you're not happy in your work it's like watching B&W TV....
