This advert - a good advert by the way thats currently on TV - is incorrect in its supposed date!!!!
It says it is dated 1984 - when Virgin was started and shows a group of Stewardesses walking through the terminal with a Captain, and everyone wanting to change their ticket, job etc to be with Virgin.
Well in 1984 when Virgin first started they did not have those uniforms that they are wearing in fact they didnt have them until approx 1987/8 - and there were no Captains as young as the one appearing in the advert either as they were all ex-BA and Cathay Pacific captains that had retired early!!!!!
The only thing that is correct is that the Captain has got a navy uniform and gold rings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wotsa a stewardess
well she wears an a-line navy blue skirt,
lovely navy court shoes,
tight nipped in navy jacket with gold buttons and big lapels
and wears white gloves
and her 1940's-50's hair-do is topped with a nifty little beret worn at a jaunty angle...
oh yes, red lippy ! (not too much)
u get the picture?
and she addresses you as 'sir' or madam,
and she is stepping off a comet 1 or a stratocruiser
