Crew trainer positions

any truth to the rumour we hear that 6 Cairns S/H crew were "selected" to be crew trainers in Sydney - yet the positions were not advertised and there was no selection process?

Details appreciated.... and hopefully the rumour is not true

Thumbs down

You are NOT mistaken flitegirl.

Yet again a foul decision to favour some crew over others.

The union is aware, and also the the rest of the s/h network.

I have not mentioned a thing myself as I could not care less anymore, however the number of people informing me of this decision as been endless.

Just why S/H crew are training to become 'trainers' on the A380 is beyond me.

A standard response from CNS management has been offerred - ' These postions were advertised ' .

What we are still waiting to find out is -
1.) Where and when was this advertised ?
2.) Why did 6 crew receive telephone calls telling them if they come into the office and do a 5 min presentation that they will have a job as an A380 trainer.

The usual suspects are involved. You know who they are.

When you say trainers do you mean ground training or inflight? These positions were certainly not advertised.

....and back to the original topic.... I notice the transfer list has now been updated effective today. So I guess people will start getting calls very soon with news of transfers. Do you think they will be in time for the Sept. bid period?

fingers crossed for them to let us know about these transfers! enough of the waiting!

As for the 'cns trainers' I hear that some of them already have a commuter house set up in Sydney, and yes are training for the A380 (how they do this considering we aren't even flying on it is lost on me).
And of course it's the usual suspects-did you expect anything less?!

As I said, the whole s/h network is aware and extremely annoyed.
The union is on to it and has requested a meeting with senior QF management to get them to explain exactly how the OLD ' Australian Airlines-AO ' formula of choosing crew for such positions was applied.

FLIGHT ATTENDANTS’ ASSOCIATION OF AUSTRALIA DOMESTIC/REGIONAL DIVISION
Email: [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> or Free Call 1800 733 222
‘The Week That Was’
1 August 2008

Ad-Hoc Training Positions
The Association has received concerns from members in Cairns over the way in which a number of temporary ground training positions were filled. In particular, crew were not given the opportunity to apply. The Association has sought a meeting with senior Qantas management on the selection process for these temporary training positions. Members should be clear we do not support temporary training positions not being advertised in the base, or for that matter, network wide. Clearly not to do so offends stated Qantas policies dealing with EEO and all other HR initiatives. Individual members are also entitled to lodge a grievance through the provisions of the EBA.

Had not heard that news yet galleyhag. Interesting.

I think you will find a certain CCTM in Cairns will be asked to ' please explain ' over this. The second business ( the homeware store ) will have to stop running out of the office for now.

Raver,

Letter to the CNS base this week stated "CNS base to remain open, base manager position to be made redundant, has been offered position in SYD as Crew Team Manager, current CNS crew team manager to remain and now reporting to BNE Base Manager."

Basically CNS will remain as a regional base now managed from BNE, makes a lot of sense. Letter stated QF has a comittment to a CNS base. Lets hope this puts an end to all those rumours and puts a lot of minds at ease.

There is still a need to reduce numbers in Cairns!! VR packages due to come out any day now across the network, and not until these have been actioned will transfers take place. Hopefully as with AO's closure things will eventually work out for everyone, but as always it is a waiting game!!!

These trainers are now on QCC4 and training.

I thought the FAAA was looking into this.

Correct.

These positions HAVE NOT BEEN REMOVED.

How is this fair to ANYBODY on the short haul network ? Plenty of other good people who could have applied for this.

Also, would people from other bases please not blame 'ordinary' Cairns crew for this. We are just as furious.

This is the fault of the Cairns base managers.
This whole thing is WRONG and UNFAIR.

Reminds me of the Palm Cove cocktail party with Ali Webster for certain 'invitation only' crew. WRONG and UNFAIR.
