My question here is; why was there even a 'chute' present if he 'yanked' open a hatch whilst a standard disembarkation was taking place? Did the cabin crew not disarm all the doors prior?? Unless this was an overwing exit that was popped? I guess those things stay armed all the time. I operate on the A320 every day and that's only just occurred to me! But then, what was a first-class passenger doing way down at the overwing area? Hmm, either way, quite a costly way to exit the aircraft in a hurry - impatient man.

I'm sure there are lots of planes that have doors that are permenently armed, and not just overwings. I operate on a Boeing 757 and doors 3 are always armed. They do have to be manned at all times by a crew member while on the ground, but I've sometimes thought 'who are we to stop a big burly man if he wanted to open the door and jump out'. I mean, we even tell the people who are sat there how to open it!!
