Glamgirl I take it then you'll be boycotting most of the major American Airlines too then? Most of those airlines don't issue Infant Seat Belts either. Shocking isn't that not all airlines are exactly the same! I wasn't aware of a Delta incident, I was aware of the infamous United one, the lesser Air Florida one to name two. What was the Delta incident?

I think many have missed the whole point of the drug mule convo that's been going on. One, that is ONE of the signs of a drug mule is the nil by mouth rule. I work for a short haul airline and I have come into contact twice with drug mules. It is not in our manuals either but it is discussed on training. Therefore that would make it an what rule??? Unwritten one, well done i heard you shout that out!

There are many different behavioural traits that a drug mule shows and nil by mouth is one, only ONE of them. I'm fairly confident, well I was till I read the total babble from some apparent cabin crew, that crew will be clever enough to add up the different behaviour traits to either come to the conclusion of

A; Pax is a drug mule and act accordingly.

B; Pax is unwell nil by mouth and not nail his ass for drug smuggling.

C; Pax is totally hungover and cant stomach a bite, and not nail his ass again.

D; Pax just doesn't want to eat our onboard crap, which really you should nail his ass for, after all its taken you all day to make.

E; Religous reasons, or they know not to eat the fish.

F; Pax has just read all of this crap and wants to spook crew out on his next flight.

So there we have it the definitive list of how to spot a drug mule.

If a drug mule does start showing signs that his cargo is leaking, its not pleasant to watch. Stupid buggers!! There is a part of me that does feel a little sorry for them, or at least that they've just wasted their economy flight for nothing.

RickBrit87 - "I have to agree that I think Glamgirl has been rather hasty and almost quite offensive and bitter in her judgments" - I couldnt agree more! If anything I'd say she's being downright nasty!

Girtbar - thanks for your valuable information. Its nice to read factual opinions from people who have not only been in such a situation, but who can willingly share their experience. I appreciate that thank you.

As for my "amateur" airline - thats for the individual to assess. But, we made history the other week with the delivery of a certain aircraft and just placed an order for another 60 aircraft. Cant be that bad, heck we'll have more than 17,000 cabin crew in a few years. But it sounds like I maybe working for the wrong company Glamgirl. Any suggestions where I could move too? With all the stabilty in the market and the falling oil prices Im sure it wont be too hard to find an airline expanding at the rate we are. Find me another International Long Haul carrier with a clean safety record. I'll be there in a heart beat!

Maybe i should come and work for your company. I wouldnt have to think outside the box - seeing that EVERYTHING is written in black and white. Like you said "Nor am I on an aircraft to be an amateur cop. I'm there to look after passenger's safety and security." - Well in my opinion cabin crew ARE amateur cops, to some degree. Especially since 9/11 days. You learn restraint techniques, hijacking/compliance procedures, people profiling, bomb handeling procedures and deal with people from all walks of life with the one aim in mind - Safety and Security of the aircraft, passengers and the individual. I'm not a brain surgeon but playing good cop bad cop is a daily occurance in my work place.

Happy flying to all

Thumbs down Canuck888

Here I am an FF to the far East with one functioning kidney and a desire to avoid jetlag. Recent studies have shown that one should eat a good meal some five hours before flight time and avoid eating until about 2-3 hours before final. Drink water on occassion, and sleep. It works!! When I first tried this I found it odd that I was singled out by customs at destination to take an x-ray and also my baggage. Never happened before. Been flying for many years. Happened twice recently...now I know. Do cabin crew get bonus money for this reporting? Just asking.

Trust me I am CC. I can recognise That a 68 year of FF is a prime suspect

G; Passenger is aged 69 ish and not likely to be a mule

I have observed a UK based Customs guy, stationed in the Caribbean, eyeballing pax going through security checks over there.
He explained that pax are more relaxed at the boarding phase and clues are easier to spot. Then a quick call to LHR to initiate a chat.

Many years ago I was regularly stopped by UK customs re my camera holdall. When I eventually asked them "why?" It was suggested that I remove the tripod straps that had white rubber lining because they shouted " this bag has just been bought and my contain lots of customs dues". Full marks to the customs guys.

There are eyes everywhere.

All I can say folks, is "thanks" for the personal attack.

I'll now go and talk to professional grown ups.

Happy flying.

Glamgirl - You threw a rock at somebody else and now wonder why rocks are being thrown back at you?

This thread is part of the daily rough and tumble of PPRuNe (and actually it never got very rough and was more of a stumble) - Throw a sulk if you must, but surely better to rise above it all, learn whatever lessons may be learned and move on into a brighter day?
