Hi,

Dependant on how much you want to spend, can I suggest a good quality digital camera. It's the one thing I always carry with me on trips as you forget so much and it's good to have photo's to remind you. (Well, most of the time anyway!)

Not sure how much you are willing to spend.....

How about a watch with 2 times on it. You can set one to your base time or GMT and the other one for where you are?

Fendi has a DIVINE one but its quite pricey. Calvin Klein has one thats alot cheaper plus I am sure there are many of these around.

Samsung does good phones. They just bought out a phone that you can put 2 SIM cards in one for home and one for roaming. My phone has a feature that means the picture changes whatever country you are in. Eg Sydney is Harbour Bridge London is Tower of London. Plus it automatically changes the time to wherever you are. When I land into london and turn my phone on it udates to local time.

A good universal adaptor is always handy too.

What about a toiletries bag? I got sick of packing and unpacking my toiletries every time I went on a trip so now I just have an additional bag with body wash toothbrush shampoo etc etc in it that stays in my suitcase.

Lonely Planet has an awesome little pocket style book called the perfect day. It has 100 cities in it and what to do in each city if you only have 24 hours. I have used it alot.

Hope this helps

Thanks JSL and Pinkus. She already ahs a digital camera, however the phone sounds a good option. The watch is a good one too, but as I am Navy, she would bag me out about being a nerd with a world watch fetish!
Thanks again for the suggestions!

I give my portable dvd player a pretty good work out on overnights. Not much else to do if the rest of the crew are hibernating on the trip.

My home from home essentials are...
  • DVD Player/Laptop
  • Vanilla scented candle
  • Photoframe/album with pics of my loved ones
  • Comfy slippers for nasty hotel room carpets
  • Snuggly mini hot water bottle

These are the things that I take around the world with me to make life more comfortable! My mini photo album has pics of all the people that mean the most to me in life, I love looking at it when I am away. My better half also goes away for extended periods, so I bought him a mini digital photo frame, it is the size of a travel alarm clock and holds lots of pics of me to keep him company!!!
