Etihad Global Assess. days for onboard Food and Beverage Managers

Hey,

Seems Etihad are conducting Global Assessments for onboard Food and Beverage Managers to conincide with their new F & J Class service inflight that will be eventually rolled out across the whole network.

For those with previous experience -

Your information is rather questionable - like a lot of other things at ETIHAD!

Just look at the headline of the page you gave as a link:

F&B Managers - Global Assessments – 10 November 2007 24/02/2008

So, when exactly are those dates????

And what would ETIHAD need Food&Beverage Managers for, when the quantity and quality of the food they serve in PEARL would not even be sufficient for a starvation diet!

More than anything else, ETIHAD needs a proper product and service concept and crew adequately trained and fully understanding the product. The human potential is certainly there but the management seem to be incapable to maintain the good standard with which ETIHAD took off four years ago.

Flashy new airplanes alone don't make a good airline, it takes real professionals at the top for that and not just some new silly titles in the cabin.

For sure EtiSAd will go the same way! The biggest problem is their boss and their poor organization! They really dont know what todo with the whole money! Just look at Emirates or Qatar Airways! Since theyhave been launched they are having the same CEO and Etihad seems to change it more than often!!!!!!

Right know I am with Lufthansa (started on 15 Feb) and I have to say that I was soooo foolish that I was thinking of joining Etihad! LH offers very good organizatuion and the whole procedures are soooooooooooo modern!!!

Please tell me who oin earth need those "F&B Managers" What do they do?? It`s only a waste of money and i am pretty sure that EtiSAD will run down the river in the near future!!!! Abu Dhabi also gives it a time slot to which it should fly profitable!!! The dont write good numbers, everythin is still in the minus!!!!

Cheers and Change the way you see EtiSAD, not the world:-)

lil_star,

I work in the aviation industry but I can assure you that I no longer work for an airline and certainly not for EK.

If you care to look at some of my earlier postings here, you will find that I have been a great admirer of ETIHAD right from the beginning. However, that has changed considerably over the past 18 months or so, as I could detect a steady decline in performance and service.

I would readily admit that most cabin crew are eager to do a very good job but can not do it because there is no 'product concept' to follow. It is not their fault that they are not given the means and training to do that good job!

Hi jollyikarus.

I would have to agree with you with their onboard catering in Pearl isnt the best.

But as I mentioned earlier F & J have a new service been introduced so far on JFK, CDG, LHR, SYD, FRA & YVZ. New food bla bla bla...I must say I tried it on the AUH-SYD-AUH. A massive improvement, service & quality of food is amazing.
Theres is alot involved with these F & B managers who will monitor quality or service in F & J etc etc.

Sonic83,

Sorry to hear about your dramas the past few months with Etihad and the recruitment process. Ever since you got that email from EY..You have just been whining and whining about EY. I must say build a bridge and get over it. Your now with LH and Goodluck with your future endeavours.

You might want to research Qatar & Emirates when they were 4 years old. They definately wouldve gone down the same track as EY is now. EY wont be going down the river in the future. Their here to stay. They are doing the biggest Aircraft order in Aviation History this year with Airbus & Boeing. You are comparing chalk & cheese when it comes to EY v QR/EK. EY wont be break even till 2010.

Food and Beverage manager

My very best friend is in this position. She was hired last year and she applied because she had a lot of hotel/restaurant experience. (She was the only one with little flying experience, most of the guys had been flying for Etihad for years.) Restaurant experience is essential, she says.

She was in the VERY FIRST training group. She works only in premium cabins.

She does Londons most of the time. (Let's say 5-7 a month, plus additional stand-by days.) Going to LHR, 18-hour-rest, coming back, 12-hour-rest, going back again, days off. Finally, she got a Toronto last month. (My God, she works a lot!!! Roster changes day by day, and she has 4-6 stand-by days every month.) She says CDG, JFK and SYD are also flights where F and B manager is required.

Money is not more than in other positions: 8-12,000 dhs per month.

She's extremely stressed out, the service is a big rush, she doesn't have real "power", the fellow crew members don't really respect her. (I guess nobody really understand what this position really is...)

That's all I know, I hope it's helpful.

F & B

Mari,

I also have a good friend who is F & B, Ex Etihad Crew. The position is very new into the Company.
It is still yet to be well established. Your friend was not internal before commencing. Probably why crew dont respect her. All about seniority when it comes to being Cabincre. You would understand if you are CC.But then again. No excuse for the crew to treat F & B like that. They have a role to play on the flight.

I agree with Mari. F & B position is nothing special, they do the same job as other crew do just have been trained more on food and beverage. The new service is a mess, the crew complain a lot. Have been working here since long time, never seen such a mess as the new service. The crew are tired, service is never ending. It is goog in first class, but not in bussiness. They will loose a lot of pax, as they wanna relax, not to wait ages for the food.
