Angry Low Cost Airlines

Having operated as a purser for a low cost
airline for 3 years, I have come to the
conclusion that these operaters squeeze every
last duty hour out of you until you get sick
from exhaustion and are forced to quit.
I work for a company that forces 11 days on
with 4 days off (sometimes 3) The turnover rate of staff is so high that juniors are being promoted with very little knowledge to
the rank of purser with 1 yr of flying experience.
Is it not time that cabin crew stuck up for
themselves. Go on strike, see what the
B******* do for staff then!

Red face

I totally agree with you windspeed. That is shocking. Unfortunatley, there are just so many people that want to get into flying, that they'll take the poor conditions in exchange for the experience. On the safety side of things though, it's very undesirable to have such inexperienced people running the show. At the end of the day, it's the owners of the airlines that need to see this, and once again, they are only interested in putting bums on seats.

Windspeed, come and play with us @ easyJet!! Max is 7 days on, it is good fun and very good pay for what we actaully do!! ( You DO learn to live with the uniform...Honest!!)
We could do with somebody of your experience... Besides eJ would probably love to employ a rival purser... assuming that it is the BA "low cost airline" we are talking about............

Cool

I agree that the dangerous practice of rostering crew within barely legal limits should stop. I have been so tired at times that it takes all my energies to not fall asleep on the jump-seat! This isnt how it should be!

Ezysteve , it'll never change till the Union is recognised, which hopefully won't be long.
