Cool Impulse Airlines Australia

Hi,

Just wondering if anybody out there has just been hired by Impulse airlines in Oz as a flight attendant or knows somebody who was ? Just curious as to what terms and conditions are including $$$$. They are starting Syd-Mel services in June with 717's.
Any info appreciated.

Yeh, as a matter of fact I do cabin boy!!!!!!!! Here goes!!

Well I personally know 2 people who have gone to be Flight attendants, 1 as a cabin manager, the Flight Attendant said she'll be lucky to crack $25,000 a year, don't know about the cabin managers salary, I also know they work 5 days on 2 days off....they are currently sitting emergency exams this week. Apparently the new crews are all Ex Qantas, Ex Ansett and regionals too i think! I also spoke to a pliot the other day who works for Impulse, he said the Flight Attendants work very hard and don't get much money! But the operations guys are on much better salaries $50,000- $60,000 I think, so it's strange that the Flight attendants are paid so low compared to Ansett and Qantas.....I think the work would get a bit monotonous.....Mel-Syd-Bne all day........also apparently there will be no service either.....that's all I know but will keep you posted as I here the gossip at work..........!!!

thanks for the info nav light....do you know if they are Syd or Mel based ? And were they one of the suckers that were forced to pay the $15 application fee by Air crews control for consideration for an interview ?

$25k is pretty crappy, but virgin oz told us is was only 23K plus allowances so that is still quite low. I guess they can pay what they want as they know there will always be people out there like " moi " who will do it for peanuts

Cheers and looking forward to hearing more goss !

Thumbs down

Cabinboy, they are based in Newcastle, and are the major sponsors of the 'Newcastle Nights' Rugby League team. The company is run by a team of Merchant Bankers, Lawyers etc...
If you go for a job with them, you are contracted by an outside company,(AirCrews), and therefore aren't entitled to any airline travel benefits. Their pilots are also under contract as well.

Cabinboy, I can see from previous postings that you are keen to fly. My advise is to take any airline job going - regardless of the money (or lack of it in some cases) just to get your foot in the door. If you think you'll enjoy flying, you won't mind how you get in. Additionally, small airlines have the advantage of being friendly. Good luck

Cabin_boy....I'm dying to get into it as much as you are. I sent my application in to Impulse (via Air Crews Control) and am still awaiting a response. I want be a FA so badly...but as you know it's out of our control. It's such a competitive waiting game. I think the most frustrating part of it is that I know (as do those around me) that I would be a fantastic FA. I just have to convince the airlines. Keep trying....I'm right there with you!

Angry

Cabinbunny,

I got a reply from Impulse ( air crew control ) telling me I had " been unsuccessfull in the overall recruitment of flight attendants " ...WHAT A LOAD OF !!!!!...you see I DIDN'T EVEN GET AN INTERVIEW !!!!...so how can they tell me I was unsuccessfull overall ?
( I think if i had submitted $15 with my resume I would have been invited to an inteview because as stated on www.aircrewscontrol.com.au all applicants should submit $15 for admin fees).
They also claim that they have recruited flight attendants before, but after doing some digging this is garbage..they have never recruited flight attendants for an airline before.

Oh well, at least I got a reply...I am sorry they didn't give you the same courtesy !

Good luck to Impulse though, I am sure their flight attendants will be a very motivated bunch seen as though they are earning their big " 25k " a year !!!!

P.S - I am not bitter...just confused

Red face

Dear Confused Cabin boy,

It must be legitimate. When you log onto the Impulse Airlines site and click on employment it takes you automatically to air crews control. If this was not legit why would this link be on the Impulse site? As for salary....virgin, impulse, spirit, lauda etc are all offering between $23K - $25K. Budget no frills airlines are cheap to PAX because they pay for cheap FAs. I wonder what their staff turnover will be? ....I need a drink...a cosmopolitan would be just right!

Cabinboy, I know with AN that the required level of entry these days is a minimum of 2 years customer service, (hotel, bank, anything to do with people...) I don't understand why Impluse wouldn't even give you an interview, what are your current Qualifications???

Hey Nav Light,

Are you an Ansett f/a ? or tech crew ?

I might e-mail you with my qualifications Nav because i would rather not post it on here ! Let's just say though that age and a baby face may be contributing factors.
