Red face Over Worked & Under Paid?

Why is it the CAA are ment to look after the safety & wellfare of Pax & Crew. But when a low cost carrier wants to make up their own rules the CAA agree. Rostas starting 0600L after a day off & finishing upto 2359L. Minimum rest after most days so you work 6 days on finish 2359L then start 0600L & they wonder why we become ill. You get called into the office to be tol off by the Base Bag & have your promotion prospects frozen. All this so the Company gain 3 & a half extre flying time but lose the loyalty reliability of the crew, by totally demoralizing them. Has thsi happened to anyone else? Any comments?

Well of course if anyone has flown for the Orange Greek Cypriot before then that has to be expected. Roster you to the MAX, and then beg on days off for you to work.

But if you don't like it get out - I did, and despite earning a lot less my life is so much better.

C or F...

Why don't you give us and yourself a break and quit EK. If things are that miserable why do you stay? Move on to greener (no more sand dunes) pastures!

I know my place... obviously I select where to place my posts with more care than some others.

Besides, 6 posts (now 7) as "Luke" just keeps them guessing... remember you can have unlimited handles! Anyway, I will check back occasionally to see if you have anything positive to say... highly doubtful though!

Cheers... Luke...aka???

Agreed NJD's, the rosters that have you finishing late, prior to day[s] off, and starting early immediately after, indicate that either, [1]the roster clerk is incapable of performing the simplest of tasks, and does not display a knowledge of his/her job requirements [ie. to allow the crew member suitable, quality rest on a day off], or [2]the roster clerk doesn't feel favourably towards you.

I know of certain individuals who try to influence their rosters, by way of "incentives" to the rosterer.....trouble is with this one, what happens when the handouts stop?!

Perhaps a phone call, or a visit pointing out the problems MIGHT help.

CLERK............?
you seem to forget or not understand, I'd
go for the later, the importance airline management put on crew shedulers.Guess you think all crew should start on a late and finish on an early, with a rest day in the middle.Take a pay cut to fund more crew?
The guys/girls that write the rosters, if it is not done by computer, make the best of a bad lot. Tell me an Airline that has ENOUGH crew!

BC...yes, roster clerk, unless he/she has some other title...scheduler, whatever. Are names REALLY that important. Seems to me management are willing to think up high falutin' names to appease peoples' egos. "I'm not a pilot..I'm Manager of Flight Deck Operations and Onboard Human Resources". W8nk w8nk

Having been involved in scheduling of Flight crew, it takes only a little extra time, and thought, to make the rosters more "palatable".

After all, that IS what you are paid for....or are you taking money under false pretences!

C or F Just curious... what does Emirates pay their F/A's? Can you live in Dubai on it? I hear it is pretty expensive there?

With regards to rosters, it does not take much for the schedulers to take a little time to put together a fairly human roster, with good time off after a working block. But what day to day crewing can do to a roster is a different matter!!!. If your talking the "Greek Cypriot" or any other low cost operator you better get used to low crew numbers and high turn over of crew.
Crewing and Crew Planners can only do their job properly if they have the crew to do the job with!!! After that I belive it's called a challenge!!!!

either your acronym is wrong - or your spelling is.

NJDs
In my airline we have F/A who mointor the roster with crew planning and the F/A can change the roster after it is written but before it is published .It means that the roster is humane as well as legal it works well for us .

Hi
Any of you Emirates crew know T. Green in management? A total idiot in my opinion. I worked for him in North America at a small airline, he was a total incompetent!! Would love to hear the latest there.
