I need all Male Cabin Crews opinion :
Do you think that Wearing a standard neck tie is safe ? Or you prefger to wear a Clip-On tie.

If somebody is going to "get physical" with you, I doubt that a standard tie will make the slightest difference.

Thumbs down

checkboard, how wrong could you possibly be??!!
these days it's not just the drunken, 120 kg footy player on tour that "gets physical" with us. in a previous 'service' lifetime, i personally saw a 40 kg woman take down a large male employee by wrapping his own tie around his neck and dragging him to the floor!
mate, if your an fa, think a bit more laterally, and if your tech crew just stay behind your locked flight deck door and i'll bring you a coffee later - physical well- being permitting!

Happy New year everyone.

Why not just go for the clip on? Why put up with the rigmarole of getting a windsor knot right every time?

I use a clip on but then I only have to wear my tie when in public. As soon as I get onto the flight deck my tie unclips and hangs over the window locking handle. If I ever forget to remove it I can guarantee that it will start to absorb all sorts of strange liquids as soon as my crew meal arrives.

Capt PPRuNe,
Happy New Year.
Thanks for your feedback. You are quite right for the Flight Crew. But I was reffering to Cabin Crew who have to wear the tie throughout the duty. Yes Clip on is safer specially when in contact with the unruley passenger !
