Question NJS, Airlink and QF

Hi All,

Have heard a rumour that NJS require F/A's in Perth. However, I have also heard that Qantas mainline wish to take over the 146 routes that Airlink currently does and use their 737s. Does this mean that the Airlink staff currently employed by NJS will be entitled to first jobs at QF??, will QF use their current staff??, or will they recruit externally?? Also, does this mean that NJS will be in a bad situation if Qantas wish to get out of their current contract with them??. .Any info kindly appreciated.. .Cheers,

Shaggs . .

Hey shaggy,. .Long time no speak! Here's some more gossip for you re NJS!!. .PER base is overstaffed so they won't be recruiting for PER for a long while!. .Rumours are well and truely on the loose...don't know what's going on really. We've been hearing that QF is to buy the crew/aircraft from NJS so that Airlink is fully under QF's wing. Have heard the rumour re the 737's too, they've started taking the 737's to KGI, KTA & BME but we are still flying there!. .Have been hearing from ground staff in those ports that the 737 flights are not too full. I can't imagine them putting 737's on all the routes - they'd lose too much money! Our rosters came out last week and we haven't yet been rostered for 31st March as the new QF schedule isn't out yet. Or so they say! I hope to god that is the case and something bad isn't happening! . .In the NJS weekly newsletter they keep telling us that good things are in the air and as soon as they can tell us what they are they will. Can't wait to find out what is ahead!!. .C.T.

Hi Girls,

QF still have a huge internal waitlist of staff waiting to fly - these will be the first to fly should something arise. Internal staff can only be employed as full-time cabin crew so therefore these staff on the waitlist have been waiting since April last year and the Ansett staff were given priority over them as they were offered only fixed term contracts or casual.

You are right about the QF schedule, the next timetable will now not be released until July this year due to the massive number of SC's(Schedule changes) they are having across the network ( the new one is always released in March usually). Some flights have been changed 3 or 4 times already and the pax don't even know about it yet !

No matter what happens with the reshuffling, let's hope you NJS girls are looked after by QF. The Impulse crews were so fingers crossed QF do the same.
