Are heels required for work?-myth?
Heya all,
basically, i really want to be a flight attendant. Don't ask me why- i know money is terrible but i guess put it down to a child hood dream.
I just want to know do FA's really wear heels for such long journeys? On films you see it and i'm just surprised there isn't a safety issue there-dropping hot coffee, tripping etc - let alone comfort issues!
I do part time waitressing and ive been wearing heels (3-4 inch stilettoes) for 8 hour shifts to practise just incase but when i'm done-feet are killing me!
any tips or are heels a thing of the 60's?
thanks

Hiya...
Indeed Crew do wear heals depending on the particular airlines uniform. However for health and safety reasons they are only to be worn on the ground and outside the aircraft. All other times crew are required to change into regulation flat shoes for the reasons you mentioned above not to mention that heels rip escape slides and can cause severe injuries in times of turbulence or should they be stupid enough to go down the slide and not rip it... when they get to the bottom and go head over tit so to speak!

yeah, paddy is right. u been watching to many movies
i wear heels around the airport- greeting passengers etc. no limit on heels height there. i have quite a few pairs of 4 and even 4.5" heels that i use. But once al set, i change into the typical rounded shoes but i enjoy the height still and wear 2.5" heels but the square heel type as standard.
i did make the stupid mistake of forgetting a pair of flats once and basically, spent 7 hours in 4 inch stiletto slingbacks. I was in agony by the end. Purser was p!ssed off.
but yeah- dont worry hun. get back to waitressing in ballet pumps and relax!
