Virgin-not Completing A Training Course, Has Anyone Been Re-employed again?
Hi Everyone,
I have a question I would like to put across to the forum. Has anybody ever had the experience where they have not completed their training due to any reasons, i.e leaving with pressure, Exam problems etc. Have you then re-applied to Virgin and had the opportunity to work for them again as crew or have they held a grudge and not employed you because of previous experiences like this.
Any info from anyone would be very appreciated

From previous experience myself they do tend to hold grudges against people.
I telephoned them and explained why i could not attend and interview i had been granted due to family problems but have not been given another opportunity, but have successfully filled in friends application forms and they have gotten interviews/jobs!

My Experience wasn't nice

Thanks for all your replies. That's really not good about Virgin. I have heard the rumour but wanted to see other people's experiences. The situation that happened to me was not really nice, I failed a couple of tests, then sadly, a re-sit, when they asked me to do a verbal exam the following day, Plus I would have had to learn all the sep commands, and revise for verbal face to face exam, all in the space of that evening i got home. I found it all a bit too much.
I did not attend for the verbal, but I phoned and emailed, And asked kindly if I could do the verbal the following day, or at least be re-coursed, another woman who answered the phone told me I can be re-coursed, but my crew manager said I could not. I was willing to start all over again, 3weeks back, but I was told about re-applying to them 6months later!! Yes I still want to work for them even though the pay is awful. I very recently had an interview with VAA, for their call center in Gatwick, I feel I did well but will be told next week if I am successful or not. I saw it as a good stepping stone to get back into the company.
I wouldnt mind working for BA, but when I applied I didnt even get an interview, I thought it was due to my G.c.s.e grades, which all of them i are not good, but you see I have a degree, and G.n.v.q.'s etc, so i totally dont get that. Virgin do have the best unifrom..?

Sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience whilst on your course. SEP for most people is stressful but ultimately necessary to get the job! The CAA set down rules which airlines have to follow and this includes Cabin Crew Training and the associated Pass Marks. In your case you failed your 1st exam and then the re-sit. This results in what VS call a "Viva" and I think you really should have carried on. People learn and absorb new information in different ways, some are quick, others not. Some people prefer to read and others prefer more demonstrative learning. It could just have been that the written exams were bogging you down a bit and your Viva would have been a different and in most cases succesful exam bringing you back on track. I coudn't comment on your individual case as your circumstances are unique but I don't think VS would hold your past experience against you, employment laws are just too strict!
There are all sorts of stupid rumours surrounding the airline industry and Virgin (only blondes need apply, young crew only etc) and all are nonsense. I think you should put your thoughts into a well written letter, indicating your desire to re-join and see what happens. Next time though, don't give up if you find it tough, keep going and you'll get through. But maybe this just isn't the right path for you at the moment. Either way, good luck and maybe we'll see you flying the friendly skies at VS.
