I must say that I enjoy flights on a 777-300 being the only boy sometimes! You get spoiled and treated nicely by the rest of the chicks...
Having a gay buddy on a flight always help, I've found they like to play cupid sometimes

I work for easyjet! and I'm straight!

The only thing people ever ask.... is... Have you got a "partner" honestly it's not an issue! although being concerned about what people think of you is a concern, in this day and age me old fella, its one for all, do what you like!

When I started flying, many moons ago, there were very few straight guys flying and I was rather homo-phobic. I used to stomp around the cabin like a caged gorrilla until one day I realised, the job I'm doing is regarded as a "gay job", whether I stomp or mince down the aisle most of the pax will still think I'm gay, so what the hell. After that I relaxed and started enjoying my job. So what if they think you're gay, you what you are and sod them all, you're enjoying your job.

What a pathetic thread. What people think about you or what you think abouts others should solely based on if they are a nice person or not.
What has anyones sexuallity got to do with anything. Please everyone move in to the 21st century.

If you are the sort of person that worries or even thinks about whether the pax thinks you are gay or not then you are in the wrong job.

Does anyone else know this very interesting fact?: the very first flight attendant was a male, way back on Imperial Airways...and they were known as........WOWWW....Stewards!!

whilst the job is highly glamorous and therefore attracts a lot of gay people, there are still a lot of straight ones out there aswell....like moi. Glamorous aint the only reason people being cabin crew.......nope, could you really imagine that there are people out there that actually love travelling to other countries, and serving customers and therefore become cabin crew???

Anyway, it dont matter whether ur gay, straight, or cant make up ur damn mind, coz lets face it, aint no passenger gonna be worrying about that if their faced with a real emergency and say sumfin like 'ooh ur gay, dnt save me'

At the end of the day it doesn't matter if you are women or men, straight or gay. If you are the kind that work you work if you are the bitchy one, that is what you will be doing the whole flight. So the argument about, gays are bitchy or straights are lazzys has really no sense as it depends on the person.

In response to Homer 09001 EZY are presently not recruiting for CC at any UK bases. They do hold your application for 6 months and will advise you if any suitable vacancies occur etc. Jet2 are however recruiting for NCL - check out their website.

Excellent post, flugbegleiter! I was just going to say I couldn't give a monkey's toss whether a male FA was gay or not - but your post made me think I certainly prefer the ones who don't have testosterone attitude problems stamped all over their faces.

Hi

Im not CC i hope you dont mind me adding my two penneth worth....

Just to say my Husband and I flew back from Mauritius (long flt) with a crew of roughly around 70% guys 30% girls.About 99 % of the guys were gay!! They were fantastic, they were fun, absolutely cutting, quick witted and had me and Hubby and fellow passengers in stitches the WHOLE journey. Give me a crew of hilarious gay guys on board anytime over the last female crew we just had (sure they all had PMS same time) sorry girls no offence LOL.

Who cares? The only people who will think you are gay are the ones who won't know you and won't see you again, so why would it matter? As long as you do your job and work as a team nobody will really care what orientation you are.

Dont go there

If you even have to ask this question then I would not recommend you apply to fly. Why would you even care what sexuality others thought you were? Who cares if your STRAIGHT???

Puurrrrrrrrrrlease

It's all about the staff travel not the sex.

My mumma always said "don't S88t on your own doorstep" anyway. sometimes we have 'little accidents' but don't worry we won't all be after you.

I suppose it depends on my mood, sometimes people say "really your gay" others I mince thru first class with a false air of superiority and we all know the disinsection spray is a chance to wiggle. Straight, gay, girl or boy, when your gassing the punters at least do it with style.

Sorry quips aside the answer to the question is yes it is perceived that most Crew who are male are also gay however when you get onboard you find, in actuality it's often about 50/50. Most are female anyway so there's a bonus for you, straight boy of Newcastle....... do you know Andrew Hayden-Smith?

Sorry these threads just brig out the worst in me.

By "straight" you mean "normal" ?
and why should I be compelled to say "gay" as some years ago this word didn't even exist ?
Excuse me, I have been an airline Captain for seven years, with 23 previous years in fighter squadrons, and I'm impressed by this succesion of posts, all saying the same thing ! it's not a discussion, but a religious celebration !
Probably also because english isn't my native tongue.
So I'm now flying business jets, and homosexuals have disappeared from my life, how wonderful it is. Quite soon I will move to big and modern cargo jets, how wonderful again.
During all my time with classical airlines, I have never been able to socialize with those people, never a bar or a restaurant, and they knew that, they have a feeling for it.
Also I spent some time in a company which was only hiring female cabin crew, yes it still exists, how pleasant it was...
Sorry for the political uncorrectness, but I hope I still have the right to write that, for some years I hope (and one day I will be reported and sent to a re-education camp, to learn how to think like the rest of the herd)

You have to be selfconfident. If you´re straight, girls will surrender to your feet.
Go for it!

Recceguy there is One common factor in all the occasions where you have been unable to interact with other people: YOU

It sounds like Cargo flying is most suited to your personality...
