Jetconnect

Greetings.

I am hoping someone can help me with details ont the long haul Jetconnect process.

I understand there is a panel interview as the final stage of the interview. What questions are asked during this interview?

Or if anyone could give me some tips on for the day I would very much appreciate it.

I currently work for a domestic Australian airline but am looking to make the move to Jetconnect.

Thanks.

It goes like this...

~Arrive
~Document and Height Check. Make sure you have EVERYTHING and 4 copies of it all, or else its just going to end in misery.
~Team exercise. The most recent used was a scenario involving a Television Channel with declining ratings, and in pre-assigned groups we had pick a show plot from a list, give it a name, decide who the stars were, and give a brief outline of the first episode. Of course, the final result is nothing, its how you get to it. Ive also had one where a crime was committed, and from a list of about 14 mini-biographies the teams had to come up with the most likely suspect.
~Role Plays. Basically a cranky customer scenario. Ive seen a ticketek type thing, where somebody wants to refund their ticket to a show, as they've broken their leg, yet the company doesnt allow refunds or changes to tickets, yet conditions of the ticket say it can at its own discretion. Ive also seen problems with lost gift certificates, and so on...

As with all airline interviews, one of the most important things is interaction with everyone their. There are a lot of tea and coffee breaks, and opportunities for just standing around, so make sure you talk to people - they are watching!!!

Thats the first part of the day. They then send you away, but to stay within running distance with your mobile on, and will then call you and invite you back for the rest of the day, or thank you for your time.

If you come back, the panel interviews are conducted, which does take a while - they generally say 45 minutes. While people are being interviewed, there is paperwork regarding security checks, and a psycometric profile to do - 200 questions! Fairly simple stuff, like "I dont like it when I fail" True or False. Of course, there is more sitting around, and more interacting with the candidates.
The panel interview is standard - 2 interviewers, and the old "tell me about a time" questions. Think "Tell me about a time when you had to work with someone you didnt like", "Tell me about a time when you made a mistake", "Tell me about a time when you had to deal with a Customer Complaint", "Tell me about a time when you had to follow a company proceedure or policy, and didnt agree with it", "Tell me about a time when you recieved constructive critisism".

From there, theyll complete the criminal history check, check references, and if all is good, theyll ask you to go for a medical, which is pretty much a sure bet that youll be offered a position. It can take up to 6 weeks for an answer back, so dont go stressing and holding your breath!

The QF team are awesome - they are always so lovely and approachable, always keen to have a laugh to ease the tension.

Having said that, best of luck!

Jetconnect details

Hi, Just wondering if I could possibly garner a few pieces of information from some current Jetconnect AKL longhaulers. I'm in the process of deciding whether or not to continue with my application so any help would be greatly appreciated.
1. On slips in MEL and SYD do Jetconnect crew stay at the airport or in the city?
2. Can anyone give me a rough idea of fornightly take home pay (after tax). I Just want to know what you averagely get deposited into your bank account at home each fortnight (ie. not including allowances from overseas)
3. I've heard that training course is 6 or 7 weeks long and in AKL and SYD. Anyone know what length of time in each?
4. I wonder if anyone would be willing to post an average Jetconnect LH roster for our perusal - it would be great to see some of the days-off/duty combinations.
Many thanks to anyone to who replies - it's much appreciated.

Cheers,
