Inconsistant Airport Security

Is it a minority view that some of the so called professionals recruited to undertake this task are just not getting the point as to why they are there.
Don't get me wrong over the last year or so I have witnessed some very polite, correct and courteous staff undertaking their duties. I also fully appreciate that some of joey public and aircrew maybe at times are less than humble in their response to searches. I would like to single out security staff at LBA for being very good at what they do.
Sadly these people are in a minority. Often over a typical weeks flying there are so many darn inconsistencies it's infuriating and no wonder pax get fed up at times. One day they must get virtually undressed (I don't mean to be sarcastic really!) the other they can go through virtually untouched.
I don't mind being searched, infact I find it reassuring really, what I do mind is one day being told my belt has to come off and my wash bag is not correct whilst the other all is ok and have a nice day sir.
Apart from the inconsitency what really bugs me is the at times utter contempt (particularly aircrew) are held with when they have the apparant cheek to query an instruction from a security staff member. We often are NOT being disruptive, we are simply asking for clarification on an instruction. We are after all supossed to be on the same side. You wouldn't believe it half the time.
As I said earlier, there are as always two extremes to how effective some staff are, but really is it to much to ask security staff to speak as one. We've been doing it with SOP's for years. It's not asking too much.
I've even heard some airports now charge you up to 40p for a resealable freezer bag if it does not meet the supposed criteria. What a cheek!
Is it just me?

There are a number of threads on this subject running throughout PPRuNe, so you're not alone: In deed anybody who has more than a passing contact with UK Airport Security knows it for the mis-handled, mis-communicated and mal-administered Government PR sham that it really is.

Rather than start all over again and duplicate existing posts, please take a look at the main thread running in R&N -
