The sublime, or the ridiculous?

I noticed this BBC News article recently, about in flagrante in transit, and wondered what the sentiments of those best poised to witness it would be. Does the article faithfully portray reality, or is it all a load of cock and bull? Feel free to get it all off your chest here!
