Playboy Magazine

What would you do if a passenger was ready Playboy on your flight? Hypothetical, no one has complained, but you saw the magazine while you ewre walking through the cabin.

unless a lot of people have complained about it,leave them to it.i dont think restrictions on reading material have been introduced since the restrictions on liquids have been relaxed....think how embarassed the pax would be if you did ask them to stop reading the magazine, not nice, and could possibly result in a complaint!

We had someone reading the Swiss equivalent of Playboy yesterday. They left it behind and the C/C just passed it on to the F/D to peruse! No harm done.

Playboy

Sorry, I too would leave the passenger alone. I found a thread about this topic on flightattendants.org. The general consensus there is that they would have the guy put it away. My thinking is that it is not my business what they are reading. And you guys are right, for the most part American f/a's are prudes.....not me!

If it doesn't offend anyone, leave them to it! If they leave it behind, all the better!

Playboy? What's wrong with Playboy? Some gals in there have more clothes on than in some movies or ads on the telly!

The flights I used to crew on had a number of miners, which meant a lot of material akin to that, they'd forever be leaving it behind, us girls would get to have a great laugh over some of the pictures!!!

It depends on the other pax. If they're all the type that wouldn't care, I don't usually bother them. If there's ladies or (especially) kiddies around, I might ask them (quietly) if they could be discreet (if it's just a men's mag, i.e. models in bikins etc... if it's naked chicks and there's kids around, I usually ask them to read something else, offer a paper etc...

If it was a hardcore porno, or somehting that I personally found offensive and couldn't ignore, I'd ask them to put it away. (Hasn't happened yet) Most of the men's mags are pretty harmless; as Flyblue says there's more nudity on tele these days... but it does depend on the fellow pax and their reactions. If someone complained then I'd definitely do something about it.

I do have to disagree with
My thinking is that it is not my business what they are reading.
The aircraft is my workplace, I'm in charge of it (along with my colleagues), so it IS my business! I have the right to ask someone to put away their 'mags' if they've offended someone (or me!! ) - just the same as you would ask a pax who was swearing or being obnoxious to tone down their behavior. I'd do the same thing if someone was watching a blue DVD or somehting innappropriate for the cabin. I realise there's a thin line here and possibly can be too 'politically correct' but I believe this type of thing should be judged on a case-by-case basis, depending on your pax, your crew and the particular situation on a given day

My 2c!!

Leaping far ahead....
On my way down to the crew rest I noticed a couple having sex in their window/aisle seat. Whilst not loud/vocal by any means they didnt realise that the blankets over their heads left them exposed below the waist from time to time.
It was a late night flight (4-5am'ish) and the only other people aware of the couples antics were 5-6 Chinese men quietly enjoying a beer and a show from their nearby seats.
In short no one was being offended.

I decided to stay as it was patently obvious the display was reaching its finale.
Only a few seconds later the young lady (on top) took a peek from her blanket and, unsurprisingly, was quite shocked to see a pilot only 2-3ft away (applauding slowly at the latest inflight entertainment!)

End result:
No one was offended, 2 randy Dutchies left slightly red faced.
My point is, its all about time and place. You cannot legislate for all situations. Commonsense needs to be applied by passengers and crew alike.
Bear in mind that Playboy, particularly the Black Edition is banned in many countries.

In the early nineties I was on an internal flight in the USA, can't remember which airline. The cabin crew offered magazines and newspapers to passangers, including Playboy.
I was suprised to see that in the selection of magazines I was offered....I took a newspaper - would have been too embarrassed to take Playboy even if I had wanted to!

Not sure if she was shocked that you were a pilot, more likely it was the drool and sleazy letch sweaty face that put her off her stroke

walk on by, live and let live.

with regard to Playboy, leaving him to continue 'reading' says more about the pax than it does about the crew unless anybody else is offended. There is a tiny possibility that he was the editor at work but more likely a weirdo without a chat up line hoping to invoke a response. I expect he had his pizza delivery boy costume in his bag for the hotel that night.

bring back romance, challenge and anticipation.

Let me admit to being a weirdo, then. I actually do subscribe to Playboy. Shall I pretend it's for the articles? Could do - in fact some of them are very good and it is even a showcase for literature (who knew that this is where James Bond first appeared, for example. Or that Stephen King writes short stories in there from time to time? The political aspect is also interesting. Oh and there are some nudie ladies in there too).

But I would never dream of reading it on an aircraft! Or anywhere else public for that matter.

I wouldn't want somebody to read it in my working environment so I wouldn't expect cc to want it in theirs either - it simply isn't fair. As you can see, I'm not a prude but there is a time and a place for everything, surely? And, in my opinion, on an aircraft is just not the place.

I agree, if it is not offending any-one let him be.
In a similar vein, I once had crew report to me that a pax was watching porn on his laptop! I made my way down to his seat to see what the fuss was all about. It was a B744, so I was able to approach him from behind and observe his actions, he was seated on the aisle. After a short while I introduced myself to him and asked if was a medical practioner. He confirmed he was a plastic surgeon! I told him about the complaint and we had a good cackle, he was just arranging his slides of before and after photos on his new computer! After I explained the situation to the crew member she also had a good giggle with the pax!

Guess I won't be so careful in future, then, and will take it on board with me!
