Step children travelling standby?

I have recently heard that some airlines don't allow step children of couples to travel even when they all live together as a family.
Doesnt sound right to me. I thought all dependent kids could. I think Flybe was one. Any ideas

On BA you will have to put your stepchildren onto your concession before there 18th IF they live with you and they stay on till 24 (same with your own kids). They can travel as they like, with or without you. Hope this helps.
