Etihad & Qatar Purser (Seniors)
HI there!
Does anyone know how Etihad was recruiting its Purser (or Senior FA's) since they were a start-up company.
Background is the following: I am seeking for a new horizon in aviation, absolutely willing to relocate all over the world. Ten years in inflight services includling VIP, governmental and first class cabin. Current on Airbus 319/320/330/340 (including -600s), Purser qualification and so on...
So what do you think I should do, what possibilities I should expect and what the current situation is? Certainly, also salaries and benefits are interesting to me. So if someone knows....
Any hint or information is highly appreciated!

well if you are looking at a position with etihad i dont think they ae hiring direct entry Pursers(or as called there cabin managers) even though they are in need of some experienced people. There were some that started last year but a few already left and more to follow.
You would have to join as crew and then apply and go through the whole process of the assessments.
The pay is not good at all, no allowances overseas in local currency and the accommodation is a bit questionable....if any available. Otherwise hotel accommodation.
Dont know about Qantar but good luck.
but if you are coming from a private/VIP flying the money wont be compareable.

You may have just missed out on a position with QATAR that was advertised a month or so ago. With your experience I imagine you would have got through no problem. They e-mailed me in Jan or Feb asking me to submit an application for First Class Purser. It was based in QATAR itself and I believe the requirements were minimum of two languages (English as a first language an advantage), a University Degree or similar academic qualifications or work experience, minimum of five years Cabin Crew (pref Senior), and experience in Business and/or First Class Service. Unfortunately I was a year short with my experience so didn't go ahead.
I think the applications may have closed now, but from what I heard they did not meet their quota, so submit your application you I bet you will have some luck .
All the very best.

This is a fantastic forum but too many people like putting opinions about certain airlines without backing their statements up. That's neither helpful nor interesting. Your advice is greatly welcomed, even by someone very happy in their current role like myself, but only if it's actually advice and not a seemingly un-supported attack of an airline's allure as an employer.

EY
Forget QR and EY... very tragic operations indeed.
306 knows what he/shes talking about.
One cannot afford to pay $USD24.50 for the least expensive sandwhich in one UK hotel EY crew stay in on NO allowences.
Crew are leaving in thier droves... Eurotrash like I cannot put up with such vile dictators, like those disposed of in war!
Management despise those with a brain who have an opinion in regard to basic work place salary and conditions.
EK is the ONLY op worth considering.

Eddy,
There is every legal requirement when disclosing one's thoughts in a forum such as this that details are not disclosed. Suffice to say that following my dreadful experience with Etihad Airways that knuckles were wrapped and sore on paper at least. So more the reason not to unfairly comment on unprofessional miscounduct.

Etihad
Sorry to digress, but can someone tell me how to pronounce the name of this carrier? Is it "etty-had" or something else?
Thanks, and you may now carry forth with discussing the pros and cons of working for this carrier.
