I'm not about to publish the details of the many years of warnings and letters that have been issued to these individuals.
If you don't know what they are then I suggest you call someone in the know!
Whilst I don't have a dislike nor a like for these EX crew, it really was time for them to go!
If they want to fight the dismissal on their own that is fine, but why in the hell should I pay for them.
I think the association should be spending our money wisely, we have a huge industrial battle ahead of us an we need every resource available.

If you are a paying member then why dont you call the FAAA yourself and ask the question. Surely they have a duty of care to yourself to answer you, or do you prefer to gossip on here.

Priapism, you are so correct. I have just spent a good half an hour reading this as I have heard so much about this site on board. There are a dozen or more on here that have no idea what it would be like outside in a real job. Bring on the changes, I for one cant wait.
Go you good thing.

I have just got back from LSL and heard all sorts of rubbish going on. While I was away I was out for dinner and one of our delightful managers was sitting at the table next to me. I over heard him/her talking to others about how they intend to bring us all in his/her words "down to earth".

I know we are all over paid for what we do and we have had it good for a really long time but what should we do. I have a husband to support a 3 houses to pay for. Do you think they really think they can pick on us like this. Why not have ago at some of the other departments like those ground staff that stand around all day.

If I have to get a job at colesi will not be happy.

Post repeat notice

pay attention painful diseased erection, red rodent and another "new" entrant olddaycc.
QF cabin crews are amongst the cheapest in the OECD and also are very competetive against most (not all) major asian/ middle east carriers. also Europa,Asia and the US have a highly regulated cabin crew environment (flight duty limitations, monthly, yearly flight limits) . you either have never flown or had no idea what was going on ( a sad tail if you really flew 20 years). there are also many qf cabin crew who have uni / other degrees (same as your cuz)and provide qf management with an ongoing stream of ideas how to improve the business (it does take time to implement because the black hole in sydney is getting bigger by the minute).as i keep saying qf crews are paid ok but nothing to write home about(taking all relevant facts into consideration).
do your homework before you write too much nonsenese here.

Will the real cabin crew please stand up

This has got to be another wind up ,even I was laughing at how pathetic it was.

Jan do you know whether the manager was either male or female because you sound a little confused. Was their voice not deep enough or had you had enough sherberts to cloud your hearing. If that is the case how do you remember what was said?

Quote “I know we are over paid”

and I particularly like this one..

“I have a husband to support a(nd) 3 houses to pay for”

as well as this one

“If I have to get a job at Coles I will not be happy”

Well Jan, If you have aspirations to be a developer or some sort of real estate Mogul then I suggest that you will certainly have to get a job at Coles .Unless you are married to tech crew (is that what you mean by supporting a husband) then I don’t know how you can afford one house let alone three.

Perhaps Jan is another disgruntled strike breaker in the AKL base or JBM or similar again ,the main clue is the number of posts Jan has made and the absurdity of the post.

Dear boys, I am only new at this PC thing however I have been around long enough to know a few old tricks.
I do not wish to name the manager or state gender as the rules to this site will not allow me. Boys, take a good look at yourselves and pat yourselfs on the back for the great job we all do looking after all our customers day after day, however it is really only serving coffee in a tin can after all. We must save money for the company or none of us will have a job to go to. Where else can one earn close to 100 k for half a years work plus all the perks that go with it. I understand we may lose a few perks first just to soften the blow so to speak.

Good luck to us all, if we only lose 20% over all that wont be so bad.

you cover is blown.
You are definitely not CC, and you went to all that trouble to register and set up an email.
Your comments are to be ignored!
Hmmmm wonder if you are JBM or a disgruntled AKL base, hmm or a visitor, geez we are surrounded by such friendly people.
I have to admit Oldycc made me laugh the most.............if that is the best you can do then keep it coming you make me laugh

$100 K per half year…..What are you importing into the country to earn that much? A goose was caught doing that a while back so be carefull or those customs guys with their dogs might get interested in you.

It certainly fooled all of us when Flyagain and yourself post so close together and both come up with so much rubbish but it does lighten the day hearing so much unadulterated nonsense being spouted…

If you think that cabin crew only serve coffee that shows that you really not crew at all but.............

Pay for 3 houses…ha ha ha ha ha ha ……That’s the best one yet….you should be a stand up comedian

Sydney s/h….
Flyagain and oldfa**t are baits and wind ups. There was something not kosher about both of these two as well as redrata330..

Whether they are management or pretenders they are about as real as a $3.00 note !!!!!

It is obvious that from their posts they know nothing about flying

One person who posts here under the avatar of jetstar fa told me in a personal message they were not in fact a jetstar f/a yet a number of times since has made posts claiming the opposite.....so you never know who some people really are and more importantly what their motivation is !!!

Now we dont know everyones circumstances, but I would hazard a guess that Oldtimers husband is on "The Inside" for taking the wrap for what she was importing to bump her salary up to $100,000 for half a years work! Possibly a baggage handler perhaps?

20 April 2006

Attention All Qantas Long Haul and Australian Airlines Flight Attendants

FAAA MEMBER REINSTATED BY AUSTRALIAN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS COMMISSION

The FAAA is pleased to advise members that a member dismissed by Qantas because of what was alleged to be her medical unfitness for work as a flight attendant and her refusal to accept an offer to apply for other work within Qantas has today ( 19 April) been reinstated by Order of Senior Deputy President Drake of the AIRC.

The FAAA spent approximately $25,000 on Barrister representation and expert Medical evidence to mount the successful challenge to the dismissal. In addition to the direct costs were the indirect costs of the work done by our Industrial staff. The FAAA is also currently defending two other members of the FAAA who have also been dismissed as a result of disciplinary proceedings.

Whilst the privacy of individuals must be protected, it is appropriate to say that the FAAA takes advice from our Industrial Officers and Legal Advisers on the merits of each case and then we decide if resources are to be expended on individual cases.

Crew would also be aware that the incidence of disciplinary actions against crew is high and unrelenting.

In this environment, we urge the tiny element who remain non members to urgently join the FAAA. THE FAAA WILL NOT PROVIDE LEGAL REPRESENTATION AND/OR INDUSTRIAL ASSISTANCE FOR NON MEMBERS WHO RUN TO THE FAAA FOR ASSISTANCE WHEN THREATENED BY SERIOUS DISCIPLINARY ACTION OR DISMISSAL.

Last week, a non member was declined assistance in relation to probable dismissal. The individual voluntarily and consciously ceased being a member several years back and despite the ability to have re-joined the FAAA chose not to.

The cost and expertise required for complex defence of our members should now be apparent to all. If individuals still continue to choose to remain non members, no sympathy will be extended to them by the FAAA.

NO PERSON WILL BE ABLE TO PLEAD IGNORANCE.

The current industrial environment is tough and if anything will become tougher. Our level of membership is at a historic high. Only by acting together collectively do we maximize our chances to protect job security and working conditions.

BE AN FAAA MEMBER OR BE AT RISK!

Written and authorised by Michael Mijatov- Secretary International Division.

what the market really thinks

On taxi the other day I was flicking through the weekend Financial Review. (15-16/4)
The feature story was "11 Bosses Who Deliver"
Obviously I was waiting to hear the Public Affairs spin on our own great media groupie - but guess what ? Not a mention!
Under the heading "Missing In Action" journos Hooper & Jury said- and I quote- "QANTAS CHIEF GEOFF DIXON....HEADS A COMPANY THAT HAS BEEN DESTROYING SHAREHOLDER VALUE." (page 28)

Nice one Geoffrey! After a year of cajoling, harrassing , intimidating and putting the fear of God into your workforce - this is what we get from the market experts??!!
Not good enough my friend.
Prior to the next AGM I will be sending the verdict of this article to the Chairman & Non - Executive Directors and INSISTING - INSISTING! - that -BASED UPON THIS ASSESSMENT -NO BONUSES ARE TO BE PAID TO OUR SENIOR EXECUTIVES.
"Destroying Shareholder value" - are you kidding Geoff - after all we've done FOR YOU!
The de -crewing, the off shore bases, base closures, and threar after threat to drive our conditions to third world status - and the best you can offer us in return is to head a ship that destroys shareholder value.
We all have KPIs to achieve - obviously you borghetti & Gregg have failed miserably in attempting to achieve yours.
Mate - the financial tribe has spoken - you & you're senior execs - are the weakest links -its time to go -pack up your things and the visitors will escort you from the building.
Qantas Managements' Achievement for the 2005-6 Financial year? To have antagonised and DISENGAGED a once loyal workforce of 39,000. Great going guys.
