I need a good suitcase!

Having just put in my third claim in 18 months for a new case, I was wondering if anyone knows of a hard wearing wheeled case for trips of 5 - 10 days. I've tried Antler pulsar, quartz x 2 and Samsonite 550 series but none have survived. There are still girls at my base walking round with delseys from the dan air days (however they do weigh as much as a small car) - I must be doing something wrong! Any suggestions welcome, thanks.

if u throw ur case around,DONT!then it'll probably last longer dont samsonites and Antler cases come with some kind of guarantee that if it breaks they will replace or repair it?

I don't throw my case around but obviously someone is doing! They do have 7 and 3 year guarantees respectively but not for airline damage.

hmmm.so the question is,how would you prove its "not" airline damage and has been damaged in some other way therefore rendering your case useless and needing replacement??

It is true that Delseys are very heavy, even when empty!!

But they last for years and years. I've got 2 Delseys which have been flying regularly since Pontius was a pilot (and that was quite a while ago now).

delseys from the dan air days
- ah! sweet memories! Tell them there are still some who remember.

I second (or is that 'third'?) the Delsey recommendation. If you get a wheeled one, the weight is not that important. They last; I have replaced wheels (easily) on one, and a 'Dan-Air vintage' case got junked last year - it HAD travelled, just a bit!

Those delseys were special..not only secure and lasted forever, but kept your exercise regime up just from pulling them around. Ahhh, and the Three Bridges days with Cally and Dan Air girls....sigh!

Eddy,
I have found the Samsonite 575 series Epsilon deluxe the best type of case I have had in all my years of flying.
Four wheels, easy steering and very low fuel consumption
Sadly, I believe Samsonite have just stopped producing this particular model, but perhaps someone here knows a place you might still be able to get one.

Thanks matey, but I ain't in the market. I picked up a Samsonite in the luggage shop at work for about £80.00. It does me well, and I've had no problems with it thus far.

The one you've got is nice, what with four wheels and all, but I don't like the brown faux-leather strappy bit on the top..... Does it come without it?

Sorry Eddy, should have addressed that to matt24nw.
No faux-leather ? Only if you are prepared to pay a fiver less
This is, after all, the epsilon DELUXE

Have you looked at the Rimowa Salsa cases?

A little expensive, but ultra lightweight and very strong.

I work in the mis handled luggage department for my company which handles a few different airlines.

My choice would be a hard samsonite. They are the best and are what ek issue to all thier crews.

Make sure you get the one that was manufactured in europe and not asia. The asian ones are not as good - yes believe it or not there are two different types of samsonite.

And get one with the wheels tucked INSIDE the body of the case, not those with the wheels stuck on to the bottom. They have a habit of being knocked off......
