What's required in the medical???

I've just been offered a job with an Australian airline, subject to passing the medical, which I'm sure won't be an issue (!!!), but what IS done during the medical for cabin crew???

My medical for QF was fairly simple.

They checked my height and weight. Gave me an eye exam (very simple read of the chart across the room stuff). Tested my grip strength (on a grip meter), tested my reach (made sure it was long enough) and a push test where I had to push my hands against the Doctors hands as hard as I could (to test if I had the strength to open the doors on the aircraft). Then the good ole urine drug test and I was done. Very simple.

I imagine it'd be the same for Australian Airlines.

Hope I've helped a little

hey, congratulations on getting as far as the medical stage!

KiwiGal is right, also I needed to do a hearing test and the dr feels your stomach to see you have all your internal organs (kidneys etc) and that you have flexibility in your joints. I had to bend over and touch my toes, squat fully down etc. You should be fine as long as you dont have anything that will restrict you from flying.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Just try to relax and breath deeply. I was so nervous when I did my medical that my heart rate went right up and the dr told me to try to relax!!

Let us know how you get on. What airline are you going for?

I've done a pilot medical before... (for a pvt license) any idea which medical is the more thorough?? e.g. I got thru with my eyesight on a pilot medical, so I should be right for a CC on hey??

Hearing I'm a bit worried abt it coz since then, I've had an ear infection (VERY nasty one) and spending time near a/c on the tarmac has an effect even with earmuffs i think!!

priapism, you're kidding, right?!

PS cckat, I did get ur PM, sorry i didn't reply yet, lol... was getting to it
