What you can take in the cabin?

Not sure if this is the correct forum for this.

This question has always bugged me and I'm always unsure whenever I go away or when someone else asks me.

Can you or can't you take lighters and cans of deodorant in hand luggage with you?

cheers

You will probably have to check the individual airlines websites for their terms of carriage. I don't think they will all be the same.

i work in an airport, and here is the answer...

lighters: you can take them ON YOUR PERSON, i.e. in your trousers pocket - it won;t do in a handluggage bag and definietly not in a hold bag - reason being if it's in your pocket there is no danger of you not noticing if it accidently ignites. was an incident once where i think a bag in hold caught fire due to a lighter

deodorants: doesnt matter which bag u put it in

hope this helps

However, you cannot take lighters or matches in to the USA, my airline has boxes and boxes of the bloody things which are collected and disposed of by the fire brigade. Unless it is one you want back in which case we keep it for you and you can collect it on return. If you are returning to the US, tough.

Hope that helps.
