EKCREW, Congrats on getting in with NJS!! All I have spoken to say they love it there and the crew are really fun.
Perth is great (very laidback but still got a 'city' thing going too... - and our weather is great too )
All the best, let us know when you are coming over and perhaps I'll see you round the tarmac in PER...!

EK, I don't unfortunately but if I hear of anyone in my company or any of the other airlines out at Perth looking for a flatmate I'll let you know....
(Any particular area you're looking for? PM me if you want... another good idea depending on your age, get a mate at a uni to put up a wanted sign - people at unis are usually always looking for people to share)

Hi Everyone
National Jet Systems/QantasLink is a great company to work for. To answer some of your questions, all bases are sought after... Sure the Cairns and Darwin bases make those nice amounts of money, but that's because they're constantly away on overnights. Whereas in our Perth base (mine too) we are mostly doing day trips. This suits me fine, and a lot of the flying mothers.
We are recruiting, we advertised in the West Australian last week for cabin crew. There's a ground school 1st September (20 people), another one in November and the next looking for a March ground school. Our latest recruits are full time permanent. Casuals or full time for the November ground school no one knows yet.
Boys and girls are welcome to apply, and we do need more boys to apply as many simply don't!
Our new B717 jets are great to work on in QantasLink. New recruits generally go straight into National Jet operations, but should cross over to QantasLink within 1.5 years. Sometimes you may be lucky and go straight into QantasLink, like my whole ground school 3 years ago.
So go on and apply, we're recruiting over the next few weeks and month or two!
And no we have no career progression into Qantas. Never have but nobody knows the future although we probably never will.

Does anyone know if national jet are still recruiting and how many crew they need. Just curious if anyone based in CNS or DRW can give me any idea on the type of trips you do.ie: are they predominantly 1,2or 3 or 4 day trips?? Has anyone had an interview in reent days/weeks and if so what are they saying about no's and bases. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

I'm going to make a point of visiting the QantasLink crew base in Perth as you see all these QFLink guys but i never know where they go. Do they have a crew lounge or what? Just interested.

Oh and I'm curious, as a new recruit what the salary is like. Have been looking at the EBA and it looks like you are only on $22k for the year plus DTA and allowances. I'm not sure if I am reading it incorrectly but it seems odd being on a training wage for 12 months.
Thanks :-)
Thanks :-)

Can someone tell me what the plans are at NJS with the 717's coming over from Jetstar? I believe 3 have come over already, are they going to DRW & CNS as well? How long do they seem to think before they get all 8 717's across? Just interested with regards to recruitment etc. I am just curious how this will all tie in with the expected expansion of Jetstar into the N.T such as Alice Springs etc. Any info will be appreciated

wine-o-babe, yes you are right there are 3 here at the moment, as far as I know the next one comes over when JQ get the next 'bus. If I have the info right all of them (or most of them) will be staying in Perth and/or ADL to replace the 146's which are all going back to their owners... don't quote me on it though...
No idea about JQ in the NT, though. Maybe someone else here has heard something...
As for recruitment, there are at least three or four girls going( or gone in the last few weeks) to NJS from other airlines (i.e. Skywest, Network etc).
Not sure if they are actively recruiting as of now but it can't hurt to register interest... just be prepared for it to take a while for them to respond - I replied to an advertised position and didn't hear back for 8-9 months!!!

OZ, regarding JQ coming here you may be right, I was told by a mate in the know things are (or should be) moving soon.... now I have my fingers Xed for a Perth base - god knows Virgin are taking their sweet time setting one up after all the talk about that!!
Oh and in my previous post I should have said "most" of the 146's will be going back, I believe one or two are on a longer lease yet....

Well seeings this is a 'rumour network' I heard that jetstar aren't coming to perth in the near future as the contract NJS have was between NJS and JQ and NJS won the contract to fly the routes. Saying that, there is of course PER-SYD PER-BNE etc that Virgin and Qantas do. Seeings JQ don't do overnights I guess it would just be return trips all the time. UGH. At DJ they are pushing for us to do return BNE-PER PER-BNE. Operate one way and pax the other.

welcome aboard,
QF crew already do returns like SYD-PER-SYD etc, although i think BNE return is a little long to do a return in considering that one sectors if the wind's blowing the wrong way can be 6 hours.

Exactly, it would be an insane day. But if we pax one way then our duty hours can be extended. Our new EBA is coming up and supposedly the Bne-Per return is on the cards. Mel-Per return is already done this way as is Bne-Drw return.
Is it just Qantas that does Syd-Per or does Qantaslink also do it?

A little while back Resboy said that CNS & DRW crews were doing 3 & 2 day trips respectively. Does anyone know if this is possibly changing in the near future. Also do NJS crew recieve any sort of travel concessions either on NJS or Qlink etc?? I am eager to find out if the 717's are going into CNS as I believe one is in DRW already. As always any info greatly appreciated!
