I have just returned from another bout of "forced LSL"...........and guess what message was waiting on my voice mail from one of the Visitors ???????
You guessed it !!

how would you feel in the their position?
no one wants to come and talk to you. you have to suck up constantly to someone above. you are on display (in the cage) every day where a large number of f/a's walk by with some rather (to various degrees) nasty thoughts. though once in a while you get a smile. i think prosac is part of their employment conditions. happy new year

LAX assault.......t'was only a matter of time !!!!
'Just heard that 2 crewmembers ( 1xSYD,1xKiwi) were seriously assaulted during the day.....a few blocks from the Hotel whilst shopping ( Thursday ).
I immediately call for the resignation of Kylie and his cohorts who signed the Bone of Contention contract.
I still vividly recall the FORUM I attended in LAX with one of the Visitors from MEL ( now gone ! ) who was vitriolic in his defence of the Hotel, AND anyone who dared to speak against it on SAFETY grounds was harpooned ( name taken ....for future intimidation !!! ??? )
In respect for those who have been assaulted I do not want to say anything else OR gloat saying " I told you so ", but really SOMEONE must be held accountable for this.
............................maybe a quiet e-mail to the Commisioner is in order ?
alas .....................................banishment to Anaheim. ( gulp! )

What the two crew who have been assaulted should do is find a lawyer in LA who works on a no win no fee basis, take the commission transcript of QANTAS evidence and Kylies newsletters sayiing how safe the place is and take out a lawsuit against Qantas in LA....
Should make for an interesting time for Qantas...publicity wise and a costly one if they have to settle

F#$%king "Solo"
Who was the clown in the office that made the decision to effectively replace dry ginger ale in our bar carts with f#$%king solo!!!!
I understand that those making these decisions wouldn't know an aircraft from their asshole but really.
How much imagination does it need to understand that WE ARE AN INTERNATIONAL AIRLINE and "solo" is an Australian product unknown in other parts of the world?
People CLEARLY dont want something that they know nothing of but will want the "generic" dry ginger ale of which now it seems we have eight cans for an aircraft holding 400 people.
Plenty of Solo to go with your scotch or brandy folks but sorry dry ginger is out of the question............
I couldn't even give dry to those on the SYD-PER sector the other day who wanted to stump up $6.00 for a mixed drink!!
Sorry for the rant but this airline really is run by the intellectually challenged.
Unless................margaret jack's son or one of the other trough feeders has bought into the company making the stuff???

Solo (or the company that makes the crap) are actually paying to have there brand pushed on J*. the Digi Players come wrapped in a Solo sleeve (which causes paper cuts when trying to get them off) and the first thing that comes up on the screen is an ad for Solo, so I guess it's a "contra deal" or the like? Methinks if the original Solo Man got naked maybe it'd pick up more market share??????

well, I'm glad they have finally got something that I like to drink onboard.
I always agree with what you say speedbird but not on this one,
I dont give a farrrk anymore if the passengers get ginger ale or not!,
The visitors and management diconnected me ages ago.
Frankly its its easier to say no than going back to the galley to get one!
Anyway the crew like solo!
The other day catering didnt even load bread rolls in Y/C for the dinner service, Not one crew member cared! actually they all thought it was great, one less movement, only 2 cartons of OJ, great one less thing to offer.
So visitors bring it on! more of these decisions!

QANTAS chairman Margaret Jackson was suspected of being a terrorist and frisked during a visit to the US last year.
The airport security guard who checked her was reluctant to believe that a woman could be the head of an airline.
Mrs Jackson said yesterday her briefcase was searched after she went through a security check at Los Angeles airport.
Among her documents were detailed plans of new aircraft, including cross-section diagrams showing seat layouts.
"The guy said 'Why have you got all of this?'," she told the Herald Sun.
"And I said, 'I'm the chairman of an airline. I'm the chairman of Qantas'. And this black guy, who was, like, eight foot tall, said, 'But you're a woman'."
Mrs Jackson revealed the incident yesterday in Beijing during a media conference to promote Qantas' new direct flights between Australia and Beijing. She raised it after a Chinese journalist complained that airport security at Australian airports was the most strict after the US.
Mrs Jackson, who was travelling with her husband, said her LA experience took about an hour.
After proving her identity, Mrs Jackson produced paper with her letterhead on it and wrote a note to the guard, whose name was Bill.
"And I wrote, 'Dear Bill, this is from the chairman of Qantas, who is a woman'."
Qantas will resume flights to Beijing after pulling out of the market in the late 1990s because of low bookings.
But tourism and business links with China are booming and more than two million Chinese are expected to visit Australia annually by 2025.
Qantas is operating three flights a week between Beijing and Sydney, but this is expected to increase to daily within two years.
Direct services from Melbourne will be considered later depending on demand.

since dame margrets husband came along it raises the question? is he trying to get the chinese to learn sking in their ski resort in japan, maybe via a link from aussie airlines? as for margrets search in lax i am surprised she did not have a bunch of minders with her. airport manager, duty manager and so on, which she could delegate to explain to the world who she is..... and not to forget the service from melbourne to china be surely jetstar international.

CSM's in the "cross hairs"
Speaking to a range of CSMs lately ..... they are "not happy Jann" re the extra accountability the Visitors are putting on them.
Apparently, they have to complete an online assessment ( unpaid ) then are given "feedback " from some EXTERNAL ( Coopers & Lybrand -type) consultant.
I personally am happy about this "next phase". I'm sick and tired of flying with some lazy, malingerers who were waiting for the "package" ....now are just hanging on topping up their Super-wingeing about their work loads-KPI's -yeah right !!!!
Don't get me wrong the majority of CSMs are fine, BUT if this process helps to weed out some of the WALKING DEAD ..........so be it.
Lets just hope the Visitors have the B--ls to say " OK, time to cash in , p--s orf and buy a Jims Mowing franchise.

www with you on this one, but dont underestimate the so called lazy csm's. yes they are out there but as always in qf, a lot of hype followed by nothing.
lets face it there a number of hasbeens
in every category. how many have they visitors managed to get rid of. next to nothing. dont hold your breath.

Have read this forum re QANTAS for some time now I can not believe the company is a bad as you say it is.
If it was you complainers would have handed in your notice and found a job you like. Or does it come down to you can not get an other job?

I'm not a F/A but I imagine this to be fairly similar to my section. The immediate people that I work with on a daily basis are a great bunch of people. Once you add in management and pretenders that is where the problems start. So my day to day job is ok and the people are good also, managment of all sorts (espescially those that get a bonus) are a pack of pee ricks.
I should also add that all you ever hear from upper management is doom and gloom, you all cost too much. So when no one is positive to you from the top, it filters down.

As Cabin Crew for a large profile airline that is profit based, it is well known we are the "Necessary Evil" and just another part of the statistics in the eyes of management.
Those warm and fuzzy memories of the 70's, 80's and 90's are banished to nostalgia.
That's just how it is and any one under 30 who starts the job now are still going to think it's the best in the world, no matter how we banter about the G.O.D's

You will invariably find that operational staff be they, pilots, cabin crew, groundstaff, engineers, caterers, cleaners etc love their jobs here at Qantas.
It is the management at Qantas and their treatment of us that is the root cause for the angst you will find here on pprune. .
Have a look at the D&G forum to see how other operational staff feel about dick'son and his "team".
The company could not be one of the worlds most profitable airlines without our efforts and yet we are treated as if we are the enemy.
We bang on here as a form of "therapy" if you like, at our frustration in seeing the company cynically selling a reputation for excellence built up over 80 odd years that has been a source of Australian pride for generations.
It a shame that the company finds that Australians now cost too much to employ and a tragedy that "Qantas Excellence" has become an oxymoron.
The march to the next performance bonus must go on.............
