Ozjet Launch Set Back
Just came back from the coffee shop and the word is out.
The regulator will not issue Ozjet with an AOC yet as it has no aeronautical services agreement with Sydney Airport . (I didn't think it mattered). Anyone know any more? Apparently, there could be at least a 5 month delay. This appears to be contrary to recent announcements.

Not too sure about that. i have had word that the first ground school is starting as soon as early october. Also the website anticipates that Ozjet will be flying at start of Novemeber. if there were those set backs i just cant see why the company would post early dates. We will have to wait and see I guess. Good to see your post is constructive this time.

Mixed News
Yeah, it does seem that way anth1980, it's possibly something that is still filtering through so maybe tomorrow we will get some more news. I don't have a court appearance tomorrow so should be able to hang around the coffee shop and meet up with some of my girfriends from the *** newspaper.
If Ozjet haven't applied for slot times into Sydney they may be in trouble. The terminal it proposes to use in Sydney is a common user and slot timed airlines have priority.
Anyway let's wait til tomorrow.

Thanks, keep us informed as to how it is all going. Ozjet have just moved into a bigger and better office in Melbourne with their call staff currently being trained. I also believe the first ground school cabin crew is just weeks or days away. i am sure that Ozjet know whats going on, also interested to know that Paul Stoddard just sold the Minardi team, unfortunate for some but possibly good news for his new Airline.
i must say i fully support Ozjet and its ambition....Its great to keep things fresh in the Industry. Are you in commercial law? have a few sydney lawyer friends.

MEL? I thought that they operations team was going to be based in ADL?
In other 07 news, Aerocare has been awarded the contract to handle them in SYD. I am not sure about other ports though.
I would say the launch maybe a bit further down the track, as Aerocare have not begun training of ground crew (or writing the training material for that matter). They haven't recruited any staff specifically for this contract either, though there will be a large intake (50+) this month of new CSA's for the SQ contract.

Different Stroke
Hi anth1980, my specialisation tends to cross company mergers and acquisitions and rural work these days. The most interesting cases are father-daughter contests where trusts were set up for the children and then properties passed to the sons. I am currently building a case in Northern NSW where a girl with two children, one without any toes, is fighting for her right to live on the farm in which she has a major interest. So sad as she has no husband to support her and her brothers are just being difficult all the way. Hope my boss isn't reading these threads.
High-Flying-Adored, I heard this morning that SIA were doing a back flip and that Qantas was going to let its subsidiary, Group Handling Express do SIA ????
It's certainly dynamic out there.

Would not surprise me in the least legal counsel. If i was being perfectly honest, i would say that Aerocare have bitten off more than they can chew - and their is running out quite fast. If SQ didn't renew the contract after the 60 day trial period, it would be most surprising.
I however haven't heard anything, and we are still running our part of the operation with minimal staff (the rest being sent of to prepare for SQ).

QF EGM of Airports and Catering has made it clear for sometime that QF doesn't make money out of ground handling for client airlines, so therefore it is no surprise they weren't too concerned about letting SQ go.
If the SQ contract was to go to EGH they would have done that from the start as it isn't a simple exercise of putting (ex)QF staff on a EGH contract. EGH would have had to source new staff just like Aerocare, Menzies etc... However, the loss of SQ and possibly NZ has meant a great opportunity for QF to offer redundencies at airports which have been available for the last few weeks.
Good luck to Aerocare/Patricks, Skystar and Menzies ... SQ is a tough gig ... they will have an interesting few months
Ok, back to OzJet ...

To all those cabin crew who have been selected for the initial ground school, have you recieved a start date for training yet? I am aware that a number of recruits have deferred there acceptance until after the initial school gets going. ie: waiting for other ports to open etc. The whole thing has gone quite and have been told from Melbourne sources that a Bae 146 has now been painted in Ozjet livery as well . Can anyone verify this to be correct? I do hope it gets going as the product is outstanding. Any feedback will be appreciated!!

Get set... with Ozjet!
Hi Wine o Babe,
Yes, we who have been selected for ground training school have already received our info packs and a start date! Everyone is very excited, and as a matter of fact, some recruits have already started their training course today to get ready for the proving flights ... to satisfy CASA that Ozjet is ready to go.
It took a while but we are ready to go to training within the next 2 weeks. EXCITING TIMES!!!!!
I am not sure about the Bae 146 getting painted... but if I hear anything, I will be sure to let you know.

just to let you all know, Mr, Paul Stoddart just sold the Minardi F1 team to the Red Bull team, Surprise, Surprise, now he is got the money to launch his new Ozjet business, but before that he needs to pay all the money he owes in UK, and to be honest with you is more than 60 millions pounds, if he has some money left ,(I doubt), he may start his new adventure!!!!!!

The girlfriend of the mechanic that fixes the Townsville refuelers' own car said it was a goer... and that Townville 'fueller "has the goods"!
Best of luck and success to Ozjet

While the start-up is concentrating on getting its 737s flying, it has also bought two BAe-146s and is about to send the first to Britain for heavy maintenance and an interior refit.
"Ideally, these two are in mind, possibly down the track, for the Canberra run," Mr van Pelt said.

Well Legal_Counsel’s sources including the man from the pub, her boss, the girls from the coffee shop, the other girl from xx newspaper and now the refueller would probably know more than me, so I would probably wait for the next instalment of doom and gloom before listening to what I have to say.
Training is underway and has been for sometime for Senior Crew with Australian flying experience for the likes of QF, AO, DJ etc under the watchful eye of the regulator and with the expertise of staff from European Aviation in preparation for the proving flights. Training for the first lot of crew commences next week and is being conducted at the QF training facility.
