I counted mailboxes in Mel and Syd.

Not that difficult.

Became wary of Qfcrew seniority list when I discovered I did not exist. Maybe I am redundant.

lexus1,

you made a post last year suggesting it was 28%.
You now suggest 14%.
Given that you appear in the know what is the figure?

If you are going to quote previous posts, at least quote them properly.

The reference to 28% was related to the Howard government sad history in raising the level of casual employment from around 15% to 28% during their first 3 terms.

Thanks for that lexus1.
I'll cut and paste your COMPLETE post once again.

"A workforce where 28% of workers are casual is a big ugly picture. Our children deserve the chance for a secure, permanent job."

Thanks for clarifying your intent with the abovementioned.

We are lead to believe that qf have around 1000 casual shorthaul FAs.
Care to comment?

Read my previous post on that thread. I think it will explain the context of my post that you are fixated with.

I have explained how I arrived at my total, explain where you get 1000 from.

Regarding the MAM casuals - i reckon that the 1000 figure maybe a little on the high side but probably not too far off the mark.

I think in Syd the figure is around the 300ish, Melb is probably similar and Brissie is quite alot less as is Per.

So a figure of 800-900 is what i reckon you prob looking at. Now i have heard that a recruitment of 100 casual langauge speakers are on the way so that 1000 figure is starting to look spot on!

We gotta worry when the casual workforce starts getting up there with the full timers! Bloody Dixon!

B A Lert... actually the said line controller in web webbing woops post is male and is still a much loved individual. He was left with no choice when the GESTAPO killed the line manager role.

The other Jill from Perth is now a boss of a team of visitors (CCTM) and from all accounts is on Perth ice - ice that would stay frozen in Perth!

Think about it - crew attitude hasn't changed since the introduction of the visitors by the GESTAPO. Service standards haven't suddenly improved. Crew feel LESS connected with the so called business. Sick levels have escalated..
If I was Geoff or John or Leslie I would be saying --- WHAT THE!!

These guys have just increased salaries ten fold compared to line managers and delivered what?? TOTAL CRAP.

Not suggesting bringing back the line managers but something has to better than this bunch of amateur, wouldn't have a clue, pretentious, superfluous, GOOSES (read GOOSES).

Oh kylie, you really f--ked up this time.... GO BACK TO BA WHERE THEY CAN AFFORD STUFF UPS

lexus1,
I think that sydney s/h has cleared up your assertion that qf's shorthaul FAs are only 14% casual.
1000 out of 2600 is 40% or thereabouts to me.
Keep dreaming..........about qf's and howard's brave new world.........

-----------------

qfcsm,

you make some astute observations about the "results" achieved by our visitors.

So true that there is only one with ANY semblance of credibility given that he is alone in his understanding of what we do.

Given the company's obsession with promoting incompetence his abilities sadly don't bode well for his future at qf..........

What has always amazed me is how these "gooses" sleep at night given the lying, underhanded bullying and harassment they are tasked to dish out.

What was it that borghetti said in the latest "source' magazine???

Quote-

"be passionate in being responsible for a national icon- be proud to talk it up"

What a f#@ken joke.

Nero, how about instructing your "brownshirts" aka "visitors" to treat people like human beings before you open you mouth would be a start!!

Thumbs down Visitor Centre-Goose Farm

Jetlagger et al,

In total agreeance re: Gooses ( Bufooons !) And yes the Source Magazine-what an absolute waste of $$$$$$. They all bang on about cost savings, take off 4 peas off a meal tray, reduce this, cut that,...............then they have the total gall to produce a mag with a full colour production etc-talk about rubbing your nose in it !!!!!
Please can someone explain to me HOW and WHY this cost can be justified when the IFE is stuffed, we can't get enough meals in J/C, wacking on surcharges due to fuel prices-"oh yeah -but its OK to spend $30K on the Source -hey it might improve engagement-hey bonus $$$$$$$.

Just one more example of the Goose/Ganders on QCC/1. Yesterday , I came in to clear my file ( read crap). I wanted to see my "team leader"-no one in sight !!!!! I asked at the Bos desk-"oh sorry they're all in meetings". I waited, waited-asked again--"oh they've gone to another meeting".
What the hell is going on ???????
These people are kidding themselves. I then went to the Product center to be greeted by PFA ( pregnent f/a)-I asked her when do you think they will be out of there meeting??, she replied"who knows-care value -zip".

I then walked past the BOS desk and they were ringing people up on LSL offering work this weekend................you cannot imagine my sense of disgust when I heard this, what a bloody hide..........first send half the base off on lsl, then someone wakes up, looks at the calender-bummer-footy on this weekend-no crew-oh we'll just ring them up and beg them to work-oh pleeeeeeeeeeeze.

I was disengaged, now I'm totally f------in disembowled by this latest low point.
You have got to wonder -why did we complain about the previous managemet regime-come back Ms Nealon -all is forgiven !!!!(sic)

How much longer do we have to put up with them-enough is enough.?????

......................................game over.

web webbing woop very interesting your comment about the lack of meals in business class i paid over 10000 aust dollars for a round the world ticket on the last 2 sectors london singapore and 5 days later singapore melbourne on both trips the choice of meal was unavailable i am the sort of person that does not make a scene as it is not the cabin crews fault but other people do and one abused the flight attendent i do a lot of travelling mostly with qantas and always have good flights due to the people who work on the planes i bet when dixon and his cronnies are sitting in first class and do not pay for their flight they get their choice of meal this is the airline that they say is making a big profit yet aa is bankrupt and i got my meal of choice from them on british air ways they had catering problems so there where no meals on the plane but when i arrived back in australia they had sent me 40 pounds in duty free vouchers as a way of saying sorry i think the people that are running qantas just now had better start looking after their customers and i dont mean the frontline people who have to deal with the customers but all the faceless big wigs because if the keep going the way they are the company will crash and the travelling public will be giving them redundency papers to fill in

do you think they care!

barrheadboy.
What you're saying makes perfect sense, however don't hold you're breath, by giving you the choice of meals means they have to put on extra meals, and by putting on extra meals it means more money for catering and more money for catering means LESS bonus for our bonus driven management!
Do you really think that any of our managers are going to give up any of their bonuses so you can get your choice of meals?
The care factor in QF at the moment is next to zero!
Oh the cabin crew are genuinely sorry that you missed out, but we are so used to apologising that the word sorry means nothing.
We are the most disengaged company that has been researched, so you think that QF would do something about it!, but what they have done is disengage us further!
Anyway sorry you didn't get your meal! (when do we land?)

Speaking of that bull**** waste of space and money document, "The Source".............here is a little quote from page 6 from our soon to be leader

Quote-

"If we see something that doesn't seem right, even if it is occuring outside "cabin crew", we need to challenge it. Ask people what's going on........."

------

What!!!
So now we have to have Borghetti inform 35000 employees that there is accountability for staff OUTSIDE those who work as CABIN CREW!!!!.

These idiots running Qantas really do take the cake........

------

Funny how on the next page of the "source" where it outlines the questions and answers Borghetti fielded at the Strategy day it LEAVES OUT the outburst/dummy spit where he threatened hundreds of employees that they would be sacked if they said anything negative about Qantas.

Il Duce has spoken...............

-------

Having said that I cant believe that I took the time to read the nonsense.
I'll have to have my dosage upped.............NURSE........NURSE!!

Just ead the last few pages here with interest. Disgraceful how QF are shafting employees, also this casual business is going too far. Sure you need casuals in any industry but do it too much and they'll be biting themselves in the ass.

I see MAM are recruiting for S/H casuals in Perth (got an email about it last week). Won't be applying though, from what I hear I'd be better off elsewhere (or even where I am, which is saying a lot!) Wouldn't want to take jobs off people that have been waiting longer, either. Chin up, guys, hope QF sees sense sooner or later....

won't hold my breath though... what a shame our national 'icon' has come to this....

All QF has done for the last 3 years+ is recruit casuals (apart from 50 in 2003 and 32 in 2005 made permanent via MAM) but if you listen to Lexus1 we only have 400 odd, Lexus1 sure you are not management or an FAAA rep? Sydney S/H I totally agree the figure of 1000 is where I have always thought we were at or will be very soon.

I love "The Source" joke magazine. After a few wines its actually quite funny to read the desperate rambling of senior executives.

Shazzbutt - the 'spin' doctors must be on annual leave, hence not enough time to 'make something up' for the September forums

Snoop Cancelled Forums???

Why advertise these bloody forums in the cabin crew news for 3 weeks.???
A mate of mine sent me an e-mail to advise that he fronted for the Forums in Singers. Hotel staff said -"oh yeah-still on" Wait wait,...........no show. If we no show for trips we are literally "keel hauled"/bullied /abused by some upstart( read Visitor). Oh no -its OK for them-no apology ,no explanation-zip.
Word is that Kylie pulled the pin on them because of cost? The onlty cost would be for the Counselling the Visitors must have after they return to QCC.

My experience with QF over the last few weeeks has almost led to "premature depression".

Any way life is too short to get stressed by these buffoons. How the red rat gets over the fence every day really astounds me!!!!!!
The airline(sic!) has a cancerous tumour growing on its soft underbelly-unless a scapel is taken to it soon.....well,........................................ sorry I'm getting depressed again, more pills pleeze.

I'm off to kick a cat-preferably- black !!!!$$#@^%^^$@^^%$#.
