what's happening?
Just wondering if anyone out there has heard anything about what is happening with the current AO recruitment.
Are they looking for many FA's or is it just going to be a filler?
Have heard they are really wanting language speakers is this the case?
I believe the QF contractors were offered interviews, just wondering if and how many took the jobs.
Any info would be great...THANKS in Advance.

sounds like Qantas, recently advertising for language speakers in Japanese, Mandarin and Cantonese! Unfortnately though it is casual with MAM though. I wonder how many people applied, i heard along the line they got less than 90 applications nationwide?

Was speaking to one of the London based crew today who was on my flight from AMS, and she said something like that too Oz...Aparently nobody is going for this casual thing anymore. Maybe there's light at the end of the tunnel?!?!?!

blue_stew, Australian Airlines has no contractual arrangement with MAM, currently the only division that uses MAM is QF domestic. I suspect the MAM language requirement is for Asian flying now being done by Short Haul crew. Hope that helps.

AO is looking for a small number of applicants this time. Max 30 ppl. Priority will be given to Japanese language speakers (who are living in Cairns) to supplement their crew numbers for additional services to Nagoya and the re-commencement of Sapporo services in November.
Its nothing to do with MAM's. They recruits for QF short-haul. As short haul using the A330 start flying to HK, Shanghai n Beijing (early 2006), thats y they recruit chinese language speaker.
