Cityjet Interview / Clothing

Hey Guys,

Im about to go for my first job interview with an airline as cabin crew. I just really want to know some advice because i really really want the job. Im really confident and well i want to get through the interview and not get disappointed.

Firstly, when they say why do you want to work for cityjet...what shall i say to press the right buttons. I was thinking about something along the lines of: I would very much like to work under the branding of Air France as well as cityjet which is a sucessful Irish airline. You provide if rostered, me the chance to fly between Paris and Birmingham my home city which will allow me to frequently visit my family and friends thus enviatably prologing my time here in Paris and with this company. Working for yourselves for a minimum of around three years. Will give me an insight into aviation industy and indeed piloting which is the direction i would like to be in sometime in the future. Also been given the chance to have a fantastic experience and career as cabin crew while communicating in both English and French which is my sole reasoning for moving to France, creating a new exciting life with travel.

Well sort of like that ...i really want to know what to wear aswell???

I have a black suit, which i will wear black shoes. Im not sure on the shirt and tie!!!!! I am going to carry a A4 portfolio carrier just to make it look cool.

Umm....Any ideas would be great on clothing and just simply gettin the job

Other things are, where is it best to live and how do you deal with getting to work for 6am flight if you dont have a car????

I live in central paris for the moment, might move to the suburbs but if i can stay central i will!!!

Thanks Guys, any help will be really appreciated.

Hiya!!!
I would wear a shirt and tie if I where you and I would perhaps avoid mentioning the bit about flying to BHX as it is your home town. Also perhaps leave out that you want to be a pilot as both of these points may leave the interviewers thinking that you want the job for all the wrong reasons!
Simply say things such as you wish to work for the aviation industry and feel this is a perfect oppurtunity for you to start your career within the sector, your aware of the high standard of service cityjet in conjunction with AF are renowned for and you wish to provide this service to the customer etc etc!

But good luck with it. You may hear a few negative comments on hear about Cityjet (dont worry, BA crew get a lot of neg comments too for no specific reason) but I have a number of buddies who are DUB based with Cityjet and they love it!
Let us know how you get on!

Suit and tie for sure - go to their recruitment page and look at what the customer's wearing. If that's their preceived image of their customer and you turn up in similar garb, you should be on the same wavelength.
Know the company inside out - when they started, the corporate structure, route development, plans, passenger growth figures, their mission statement, ontime statistics..... (You'd be surprised how poorly prepared some people are - I had a potential supplier who bid for a multimillion Euro contract who didn't know the name of our CEO...!)
Use it sparingly, but if/when you're asked "what do you know about our company", just shine.
If they're clued up, they'll ask you why you want to work for the company and why you - especially you - can provide value.
Don't focus on the benefits.
Before you go in to the interview, take 5 deeeeep breaths to stabilise yourself. And have an image of the "perfect moment" in your life - some incident where you felt just soooo good - and focus on that before you go in.
Give them a firm, dry handshake, maintain eye contact and mirror their body language.
Good luck.
(Crikey, I should be charging for this....)

Definately don't mention anything about wanting to be a pilot and being able to see family on certain routes etc and don't say anything about travel benefits etc as said it will look as if you want the job for all the wrong reasons. There are lots of people that want to make a career out of being a Flight Attendant that they could give it to, why would they give the job to someone who only wants to do it for a minimum of 3 years?

ps-One Step Beyond, i feel sorry for you, i would hate to work where you do if that's how it is and how you feel?
