scary !!! 9 failed the last exam at BA

I am so chocked that 9 people failed the BA training last week. I can't get in my head how u can succeed for 5 weeks and then suddenly fail!

I have two weeks more to go and this is so scary to know that after the 5 weeks to fail on the last exam.

Perhaps it was because they failed to calculate their expenses incorrectly.

Perhaps they should consider the employment tribunal option. Indeed it does seem a poor reflection on the training staff involved on the course. I assume 'Darkstar' is being sarcastic as allowances in BA are low.

HZ123 you have GOT to be joking.....low allowences????

I hope this doesnt start off a BA allowence debate (again!) and I am not BA crew (my partner is). But the allowences are huge!

Take GBP1100.00 for a SYD or MEL trip for instance. Or near GBP800.00 for a NRT. Even to fly to Geneva and back (1:10 duration) can be worth GBP50.00. Add to that payments of GBP40.00 to the shorthaul crew when their two and a half hour breaks aren't achieved. Payments for working down a crew member, long range payments, Nightly overseas payments, early start payments. All I can say HZ is the allowences must be out of this world where you work if you think BA's are low!

And again to the BA crew....not taking a dig.

I'm no lawyer, however I'm fairly certain that you have to be employed by a company for more than 1 year to be able to do this and then only having exahusted the internal grievance process....

I also feel it's unfair to blame the trainers if everyone else managed to pass. Indeed it seems to me more likely to be down to the amount of effort put in by the trainees, however without more info it's impossible to know why this happened.

Cheers

come on guys....... and gals, HZ125 sits in an office with virtually no natural lights all day. Do a search and you will find he makes crass general sweeping statements and often contradicts himself, in short he is best ignored

Yet again another chance for all ppruner's to take a swipe at BA crew.
It starts off about people failing the exam ( needed to do their homework) and the very next post it changes to have a dig at our allowances!!.

It grinds me that on such a public forum people are only too happy to throw around figures of what we earn and how good we have it.

I understand how lucky I and the rest of BA crew are and I am very grateful for it.I will be out tomorrow night with Virgin crew and crew from other airlines and will have a beer and no doubt loads of fun.Not yet have I found crew from other airlines other than great company and have never received any bad/nasty remarks about BA,it's crew or what we earn!!.

I therefore conclude that all the BA 'Hate Club' only get together on Pprune to have a stab at BA and in particulr it's cabin crew (ordinary people).People on here and it's always the same few, hide behind their forum names and throw insults.Yet these same people would'nt have it in them to say the same things to your face.

If you feel you we have it so good and I for one think we do, well
stop your silly, cheap and continually irritating comments and come and join us!!.Only one thing.....you'll have to use your real name on the application form .

Anyway off for another 12 hours on the glamourjet delivering service with a smile not a sneer!!.

WTDWL.

Back to the original subject... yes its awful that eight ppl failed on the course before me. Lukily this week we all went away having passed the training course but it was so scary leading up to the exam! The Questions weren't as hard as we had anticipated

Hope they can somehow get reinstated? if its at all poss?

Thomas (BA Heathrow) - dont know how to change the nickname!

If I was BA Management, I'd be asking those responsible for cabin crew training for a rapid and comprehensive review of both the initial selection process and the training regime.
Canning 9 applicants after 5 weeks appears to me to be an outrageously poor use of training resources, apart from the severe impact it has on those unfortunates now cut off at the ankles.....

And getting back to allowances.....

HOW MUCH? 50 quid to GVA and back? Our per diems for business travel are around GBP30 for 24 hours in somewhere like NYC or GVA and down at GBP25 for SIN. And this is for breakfast, lunch and dinner.... Public transport etc reimbursed via receipt, taxis and phone calls with line manager approval. Welcome to the real world, folks.
